In the series premiere, Sonya shows us how appreciating your animal's sensitivity can lead to an extraordinary bond between you and your pet. She uncovers a stunt horse's horrible secret and listens to a motor-mouthed myna bird with nothing good to say about a fellow family pet. Meanwhile, a conversation with a lethargic alligator offers clues to its mysterious behavior.
Who would have thought bats could be outgoing or shy? Well, Sonya talks to one that was once gregarious and has since retreated to its cave. She also solves a couple of pet mysteries involving a starving mini horse and an irate iguana.
Sonya explains to a curious pet owner why her pet zebra doesn't behave like a zebra and finds out why Cookie the cat is using her owner's bed as a litter box. Some pets can tell humans how to live courageously. Sonya chats with a pair of doggie do-gooders who have overcome the odds.
Sonya finds out why two greyhound companions, Mailman and Whitney, are friends no more. Hieronymus the African grey parrot talks to Sonya about his unusual attachment, while Tony the llama struts his stuff. Sonya is also called in to solve a horrible mystery: To find the person who tossed a rescued cat out of a car window into oncoming traffic.
Homer the pig is hold up in his pen. He's unable to move his back leg. His vet is perplexed, so Sonya steps in to help. Cesar the camel is holding a grudge against his owner, who was just trying to do him some good; Sonya smoothes things over between the two. Sonya also does a bit of matchmaking between Kodiak bears and has a chat with Frank the pug, the star of Men in Black II.
Chrissy is an excellent agility dog; however; she has the peculiar problem of screaming loudly throughout her routine. Sonya finds out why. She also chats with an alligator that has become known as a nuisance at his Gatorland home. While a fidgety-footed horse named Sam explains why he gets spooked during dressage competitions.
Sonya steps in to counsel a ferret family with a checkered past and offers some family planning advice to two hot and bothered Bengal tigers. Trip the dog was tentative at first, but he tells Sonya his hard history and how he lost a leg.
William the sheep was once the leader of the flock at his animal sanctuary, but now he has become more of a loner, sticking close to the barn. Sonya finds out the reason for his reclusive behavior. She also learns why a rescued primate named Oogie has a penchant for pelting men with her food and why Lucky the dog refuses to go for a walk.
Ernie's incessant barking starts at the break of dawn and his behavior is becoming a nuisance. Sonya talks with this very chatty pet. She also has a candid conversation with Bonkers the bear, and star of the Animal Planet movie, Gentle Ben. His trainer wants to know why Bonkers gets a bad case of stage fright before his performances. While fellow animal performers, Tonka and Chisholm, two curious Texas longhorn steers, have lots of questions for Sonya.
In this episode Sonya must solve a few mysteries. Can she find out why Munch, a dog with a very peculiar and potentially life threatening problem, chews on his paw until it is bloody and open to infection? Can she determine whether a little fox, that has seen much tragedy, has the will to live in the wild on his own? And can she figure out who would abandon Belle, a sweet golden retriever, in a condemned house with a tin can stuck on her nose?
Chip the prairie dog is mourning the loss of his longtime mate, Dale, and Sonya helps him cope with the loss. Rex the wolf, normally docile, has become aggressive and Sonya discovers the cause of his irritability. Sonya also helps former Fresh Prince of Belair TV Dad James Avery deal with the loss of his beloved dog, Rue, as he connects with her one last time.
Sonya finds out why Doc, a beautiful cockatoo has been plucking feathers from his chest, causing his owner to put a halt to his performing career. While an animal enthusiast, Carol Dorner, expects a new addition to her menagerie. She asks Sonya if all is with her mother-to-be giraffe, Jupiter. Sonya also speaks with Tonka, who like other dogs his age, suffers from constantly achy limbs brought on by terrible bouts of arthritis. Nothing seems to ease his pain.
Louise, a championship show dog, is eating less, but gaining weight, leaving vets baffled. Sonya tries to solve Louise's medical mystery. She also talks with Apache, a mini-horse with a broken leg that's slow to heal, and Alice, a once outgoing turkey with a bad case of the bird blues.
