I liked how Marge and Homer both try to help Lisa with her feelings, despite not getting it right straight away. Were many other shows talking about depression (especially in young people) in 1990?
The most mature episode yet, with a plot line that allows Lisa a surprising amount of dignity. It gives both her and Marge their first real moments of character depth, with the car scene being a standout of the heart that would be a trademark of the golden age of Simpsons.

“Moaning Lisa” is another decent early episode of The Simpsons. While this episode lacks humour and has a bland side plot between Homer and Bart, I liked the exploration of Lisa’s character. She and Marge bonding in the car is my favourite scene of the show so far.
Overall, a fair enough episode with some solid moments.
