3.3/10

Pretty bad episode after last week's return to form. John K's couch gag was neat, but felt out of place. The segment about Sideshow Bob finally killing Bart, only to realize his life is devoid of joy and purpose without the goal was a good premise, but there was too much fanservice, not enough comedy, and too much whiplash in the execution for it to really work. The Homerzilla segment had some quality Mel Brooksian fourth-wall breaking potential, but the satire of hollywood was pretty trite and toothless for much of it to work. The last segment, with the Chronicle Parody, had a lot of potential as well, but it felt like they ate through the story so fast that none of the gags could really be set up or land.

All in all this was a year with a lot of fun ideas that ultimately went nowhere thanks to poor pacing and weak humor. Not very promising.

Was ok for the newer episodes... the part with bart was pretty dark for a kids show lol

Regardless of whether it's true that the quality of The Simpsons has decreased over the years, Treehouse Of Horror episode were always pretty great. It's the one episode I look forward to every year while hoping the others surrounding it will at least be decent. This episode was a major disappointment to me and the worst Treehouse Of Horror episode I've ever seen. Maybe it's time to stop watching.

The Halloween episode last week was actually much better. The first story with Sideshow Bob is easily the best of this Treethouse of Horror.
The Chronicle segment was good but over too quickly. While the Godzilla one was disappointing.

If you ever wanted a Gamera vs Godzilla, the new Treehouse of Horror XXVI has a glimpse of it. ;-) #Homerzilla
