[9.0/10] The best "Treehouse of Horror" episode The Simpsons ever did, which is saying something. The Evil Twin shtick is the perfect sort of kid mystery for Bart. The Twilight Zone parody with Lisa's miniature society is a great premise executed with hilarity. And "Citizen Kang" is such a guffah-worthy take on American politics filtered through something as loony and moony as a secret alien invasion. Just wonderful stuff all around.

Still great 20 years on. Citizen Kang has lines I still quote to this day.

"We must move forward, not backwards. Upwards, not forwards. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom".

Of the three shorts in this episode, "The Genesis Tub" is my favorite. It's a mix of the original Twilight Zone episode "The Little People" and of "Wolf 359", a Season Two episode of the original Outer Limits. It's clever if not a bit on the nose with it's shots at religion. "Citizen Kang" has dated with it's Clinton vs. Dole election theme, but the way Kang and Kodos easily manipulate the population is stinging commentary on how little attention people pay to anything other than soundbites and slogans.

All of these shorts end suddenly and darkly, which will probably upset some viewers who desire happy endings.

This was epic the first time but not so good for rewatching...
