Terrell Owens is one of the most talented and exciting players in the history of football. As the controversial "T.O." he seems to have it all --catching passes and grabbing headlines. But life is far from perfect for Terrell Owens, the man. As the show opens he's just been cut from the Dallas Cowboys. To help him get over the shock, his best friends (and publicists), Mo and Kita try to convince Terrell (and his friend/ bodyguard Pablo) to move to LA to work on his love life and explore some post football career options. The next day Terrell gives Mo, Kita and Pablo the good news: he's just signed with the Buffalo Bills! As the friends celebrate, Terrell agrees to move to LA. But where the thoughtful, soft spoken Terrell goes, the wildman "T.O." is sure to follow. Now the girls have their hands full as Terrell "gets his L.A. on" with a sexy real estate agent and a crazy house party that quickly flies off the hook! Terrell also pays a visit to his former fiancée, Felisha. But while Terrell still has feelings for her, nobody's sure what the future will hold.
It's time for Terrell to head to Buffalo to meet both his new team and his new city. Before the trip he sits down with his super-agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who pumps T.O. up, "Jerry Maguire" style, for his visit to Buffalo. Back at the house, Mo has had a dramatic development in her personal life -- she's found her long lost half sister that she's been looking for her whole life.
Terrell admires Mo's attempts to get in touch with the half sister she's never met, and says that now's the time for him to have a sit-down with his estranged father. But he won't be going alone; he tells Mo to pack her bags because he needs her support! Terrell, Pablo, and Mo head to Terrell's hometown, tiny Alexander City, Alabama. Before visiting his dad, Terrell stops by his old high school to give an inspiring talk to the current generation of athletes. Afterwards, Terrell has a heart-wrenching visit with his grandmother, the woman who raised him, who is now suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
Terrell has to get ready for the ESPY awards and tape a sketch at Comedy Central. In the midst of the commotion, Kita announces that she's taking the night off for a date! Pushing off his obligations, Terrell and Pablo go shoot hoops with Terrell's good friend, and former professional football player Matthew Hatchette. The next day before the ESPYs, Mo and Terrell's date, Kari, meet for the first time. But overprotective "Mamma Mo" doesn't think Kari makes the cut, and grills the sexy model.
Mo is stressing out because she's planning a vow renewal ceremony with her husband Victor. Caught up in his own generous spirit, Terrell offers to pay for the whole thing. Mo is thrilled but Kita is mad because she thinks everyone's forgotten her birthday. Terrell, however, is only pretending to have forgotten. He's secretly arranged a surprise party for her. Mo and Kita have a great time at the party but complain that Terrell has brought a new date, Victoria's Secret model Jessica White, to what should have been a 'family' affair. One thing's for sure, when it comes to beautiful women, this wide receiver has his hands full!
As the date of Mo's vow renewal ceremony approaches, Kita plans to throw her a bachelorette party in Vegas. Not to be outdone, Terrell and the guys host a bachelor party for Vic, Mo's husband. Unbeknownst to each other, both groups check into the same hotel. The girls stay occupied with pole dancing lessons given by an expert in their own hotel suite. After a couple days of sunning at the pool, gambling, and clubbing, Terrell hosts a dinner for both groups in his over the top suite. However, the dinner doesn't end well: Mo and Kita get into a knock-down, drag-out fight concerning the arrangements for the bachelorette weekend --and Mo's behavior with the male stripper!
It's the weekend of Mo's wedding and neither Kita nor Terrell is anywhere to be found. While Mo is busy stressing over the wedding details, Terrell and Pablo spend the day relaxing before finally showing up to the rehearsal dinner. After kicking her out of the bridal party, Mo reaches out to Kita to try to make peace, but can't reach her. Terrell calls Kita and pleads with her to come to the ceremony. Kita arrives at the hotel, but no one is sure if she'll show up for the ceremony. Terrell and Kari attend the wedding as a couple, but with Terrell off to Buffalo soon for the start of the season, whether they stay together is anybody's guess!
Terrell's back in Los Angeles after a disappointing season in Buffalo has him questioning his future in football. While Mo and Kita hunt for a house for Terrell, he moves in with Mo -- which puts his babysitting skills to the ultimate test. With his professional career in transition, Terrell also tries to address his personal relationships with his on again off again girlfriend Kari.
As Terrell settles into his new Los Angeles digs, his faltering relationship with Kari drives him into therapy. Mo and Kita are also working to build relationships and they invite Terrell's ex fiancée Felisha out to lunch. In another first, Terrell hosts a princess party for two of his daughters, who've never met before.
Terrell and Kita head to New York where Terrell tries his hand at modeling during New York Fashion Week. Terrell makes an unforgettable debut walking the runway at a fashion show and takes over the city while Kita gets pushed to the sidelines. But Terrell has one last surprise up his sleeve for Kita before they return to LA.
With Monique "Mo" Jackson weeks away from giving birth, an awkward Terrell Owens fills in for her husband Vic at birthing class. And Terrell's desire for canine companionship gets put to the test when he dog sits for a friend.
When Terrell Owens guest stars on a television talk show about sex, his girlfriend Kari hears more than she can handle. This time their relationship could be reaching its ultimate breaking point. Meanwhile, Kita's boyfriend, Joe, reveals a secret that shatters their blossoming relationship.
Tensions rise when Terrell is invited to a special Pros vs. Joes basketball competition and is reunited with his old Philadelphia Eagles teammate, Donovan McNabb. Meanwhile, in an effort to get Terrell organized Mo and Kita set out to hire Terrell an assistant. But this new face is not at all what he had in mind.
Terrell Owens gives Kita a lesson in tennis etiquette when they travel to Miami to see Andy Roddick play in a tournament. After the match, Terrell, Kita, and her sister BJ let loose on South Beach, and Kita goes wild. Back at home in LA, a surprise visit from Joe at Mo's baby shower has Kita reconsidering their relationship.
Terrell Owens accompanies Kita Williams back to her hometown of Louisville, where he meets her family, and attends the Kentucky Derby. After getting caught up in the excitement of horse racing they visit a stud farm to consider buying a horse. When Kita returns to L.A., she and Mo come to blows over their business and relationships.
Terrell Owens moves closer to his dream of becoming a serious actor when he lands an audition for his first leading role in a film. Everything is put on hold when Mo goes into labor and she is rushed to the hospital. When everyone gathers at the hospital, Terrell runs into a familiar face...his ex fiance, Felisha.
In the season finale, Terrell visits Mo's new born baby, Jackson, for the first time. Mo challenges Terrell about his role as a father which pushes their friendship to the breaking point. As the off season comes to a close Terrell is set to make his next move professionally, but looking back at his time in Los Angeles leads Terrell to a big decision -- a marriage proposal! Will it be Kari or Felisha?
Football Superstar Terrell Owens' faith is put to the test as he finds himself faced with emergency ACL surgery and a professional future in turmoil. With an unclear prognosis, Kita races to Terrell's side in Pensacola, Florida where she lends her support. But without Monique she questions her own strength to help Terrell get through it. Ultimately, Terrell's recovery presents time for personal reflection as he sets new goals and revisits his faltering relationship with Kari.
Recovering from surgery, Terrell's doctor says the road to recovery will be a challenging one if he wants to play football the upcoming season. Ever determined, Terrell denounces his timeline and puts a plan in motion to be fit and ready in half the time. Much to Kita's chagrin, Terrell enthusiastically appoints her nursemaid as she fumbles through bedpans and dinner menus, while Monique, still in Los Angeles, creates family upheaval as she grapples with her own next moves.
Terrell, now up and walking, agrees with Kita on a move to Miami where they can both focus on professional and personal goals: Terrell considers a tighter fist on his finances and a future outside of football, and Kita, a possible romantic liaison. With a fresh new look Monique's awkward arrival to Miami threatens the very foundation of their "One Team, One Dream" friendship they've worked so hard to keep intact.
Ex-NBA champ John Salley advises T.O. on life after retirement and takes Terrell, Kita and Monique out on the town.
Anxious to bring more visibility and financial gain to his barbershop, 'T.O. Cutz", Terrell brainstorms a shortlist of ideas with his staff. Monique and Kita however recognize a much bigger opportunity for the business and railroad everyone in their path to see things their way, causing a chaotic turn. Separately, and flexing a new found independence, Monique hooks up with an old business friend who grooms her to become a radio personality.
Terrell accepts an invitation to be a groomsmen at his cousin Tony's wedding in Alabama. There, he advances an obvious and potentially emotional opportunity to reveal to his family details of his recent surgery and impending financial changes which could impact everyone. Mo and Kita also join an emotional Terrell at his Atlanta home, which has recently gone up for sale.
Behind the scenes of his first full-length film, Terrell quickly realizes that just because he can run a football field with his eyes closed, it doesn't necessarily mean he's ready for his celluloid close-up. Screen sirens Stacey Dash and Stacey Keebler bring fire and romance to his scenes. Off set, Kita considers how she really feels about Joe.
Now bitten by the acting bug, Terrell jumps at the chance to walk the boards of a huge hit stage play, but first he has to audition to land the role along side Angie Stone and Tyson Beckford. After Kita and Monique tweak the final details of the barber shop launch party, Kita works to keep her relationship with Joe on track
Feeling confident with his recent life choices and of optimal health, Terrell chooses to thank Kita, Monique and Adrienne for their support with a surprise trip to the Bahamas.
In the season finale, Terrell hits the red-carpet for his "Dysfunctional Friends" movie premiere and bows to the lavish accolades. Back in Los Angeles, Mo and Kita must face the press alone when the news breaks about Terrell's injury and he is nowhere to be found. With the football season fast approaching, Terrell refuses to buckle and puts all his physical and mental efforts towards getting back on the field one more time.
