In 1985, the St. Louis Cardinals were three outs away from their second World Series championship in four years when Jorge Orta grounded out to lead off the ninth inning of Game 6. But first base umpire Don Denkinger called Orta safe, in one of the worst blown calls in the history of professional sports. The Kansas City Royals rallied to win Game 6, and won the World Series after the Cardinals imploded in Game 7. The World Series banner would have to wait 21 years to fly over St. Louis, but how much of that was really Denkinger's fault?
