This is the obligatory aftermath episode - Toby, Bartlet himself and Charlie are struggling, the others try to secure wins at the Midterms, and Josh's is convalescing at home under Donna's strict rules.
I like this episode - could have done without the public putting down of that radio reporter in the end, which came across as petty and condescending (even if factually right), especially the way Sam grabbed that crab puff from her plate... unnecessary. Otherwise I enjoyed the way Bartlet and Toby are pretty similar in their reactions to the shooting.
Has anyone else noticed that the shooting got quietly moved into August when it actually happened in May in What Kind of Day Has it been? Maybe they wanted to time it better with the Midterms, still I'm not sure that was strictly necessary even with Josh. 6 months of recovery for such a grave injury and returning to a high-stress job like his would require months of rehab and preparation after all.
