The X-Files: Season 7

7x07 Orison

Hey, isn't that.. Hershel Greene (The Walking Dead)? and a good left handed punch, and that end sequence was pretty cool, gave me a bit of a David Lynch vibe

"I'm going to run you a bath"

"AHHHHHHH"

Lol. Scully was so close to escaping an increase in the abduction counter. She fought back so valliantly, and succeeded, and instead of running out the house she went to the phone instead, and got caught and abducted. Abducted by the same villain from seasons ago.

SCULLY ABDUCTION COUNTER... #8.5

Ugh. Sigh.

Good acting from the villain though, it's nice to see him return. I didn't like the religious mumbo jumbo in the episode though, it felt half-baked, and it also diminishes the behavior of human nature by making the villain an actual demon, which also wasn't established before. The hypnosis ability or whatever wasn't good either.

Creepy Harrison Ford is pretty good here but the episode is a bit confusing but maybe that's because I was browsing Reddit.

There are several genuinely well-directed scenes in this episode, the likes of which are unique to the series (to date). There were also some tense scenes. The ending was also a nice touch - and, again, unusual to the show. Granted, as per The X-Files tradition, there was no real ending. Things just stopped. I suppose I was more referring to the coda.

All this typed, the religious hokum is embarrassing. Why? No excuses: It's stupid - and diminished the episode. The bad writing hurt this episode. It would have been better without the unnecessary faux psychobabble, ridiculous hypnotism and, as always, the supernatural. Also, the phone? Really? No. Just no.

The golden touch, which is now canon: Not only is Scully immortal (past episode and 100% true - yes, and stupid), she is now an instrument of pure evil (also true - and stupid). Yay! Will any of this be followed-up on? No, silly. Of course not.

Creepy Donald Pfister escapes prison and continues on his quest to satisfy his hair and fingernails fetish. Unfortunately, it's not as entertaining as Season Two's original Pfister episode ("Irresistible"). The writer plays Pfister up as a sort of demon and brings a murderous priest into the fold. Yawn. Pfister is still creepy but not as much. He predictably attacks Scully again.
