In the first episode, cameras follow Erin O'Connor, still just 24 and already a fashion world icon, as she travels to Paris for the prestigious couture fittings and rehearsals. Standing 6"5 in heels, Erin has been described as a 'freak of nature' but to designers like Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino she is the ultimate muse.
While Erin can command huge fees after seven years in the business, the reality for most models is a three to four year career, averaging £350 a job. The industry is constantly searching for new girls and 21-year-old Ruth Crilly is under no illusions of what is expected of her.
'My job is to look how they want me to look,' she says, as cameras follow her to Tokyo on her first modelling assignment overseas.
Having given up a law degree to pursue a modelling career, Ruth hopes to make her new career pay and Tokyo is one of the few places girls are almost guaranteed to make good money.
But with huge student and credit card debts to pay off, she's a long way off from being able to afford the $1.5 million New York apartment that Erin is buying...

Episode two follows Ruth, who is trying to launch her career in New York, and 15-year-old Anna Donne, who has to decide between being an artist's model and a catwalk queen.
Up-and-coming model Anna was spotted by Models 1 when she was just 11 years old. Now 15, Anna has the potential to be a huge star in the modelling world.
But both her mother and the staff at Models 1 are all too aware of the need to only take things one step at a time - not least because Anna has still to master the art of walking down the catwalk...

Episode three follows Ruth Crilly, back in Britain after an unsuccessful launch in New York, making a breakthrough with a contract for a high street campaign.
Meanwhile, 15 year-old Anna Donne braves her first catwalk with couture icon Erin O'Connor.
This concluding episode takes stock of the industry as a whole and the effects of modelling on the women working in it.
