I just saw this show for the first time, when started I already knew it was cancelled, just didn't know what type of ending they had - a proper goodbye or a wrecking cliffhanger. Was hoping for a finale, of course, but after seeing that I wish it was a cliffhanger... :-(((
Flynn was my favourite guy since the start, I was arguing with the tv almost whole season 1 for them to stop being jerks and actually start working together with the guy, cause, helloooo, they all was going against same system, yet, they wasted whole season on fighting Flynn.
I think somewhere in the middle of the season 1 I started watching the show from his angle and was waiting for them to catch him (or something) and FINALLY to start working together! When in season 2 he finally ends up on a team - it was most fun! Couldn't wait for them all to become an actual team all together, to accept Flynn, not draw the line constantly showing him, that he didn't belong there. Cause, um, are you kidding me??? Man lost his family, saw them dead, like almost everyone on that team - he lost someone too. Yet, they were acting like he's a terrorist and they're the only good guys here. But I was ok with that, because I believed, that soon they'll become a team.
How wrong I was. And how wrecking that finale was for someone, whos favourite character was Flynn. I seriously did not expect that and it was a total crash, especially in contrast of everyone getting along, having their lives back on track, with flashbacks of happy moments of others... For two seasons I hoped they had a finale and in final ten minutes I wished it was just a cliffhanger. ugly crying
Loved this show! Despite all the SaveTimeless internet flashmobs, I think they were lucky enough to have a chance to wrap up their show and that was the best way to end it.
And that would be a 'love-that-show' series, that I wouldn't rewatch, at least in near future, because it left me feeling extremely broken.
Flynn. <3
Wow. In the first 35 seconds, instead of seeing how the cliffhanger was resolved, we have Lucy info dump it all on us. Excellent writing.
Oh, my God, are you serious? It's the final episode, the team is struggling to survive, they're scrambling to stay ahead of Rittenhouse, they know they're on a time limit, and what do they do? Alter history AGAIN for some random pregnant woman. They've all made sacrifices at this point. They've all killed for the cause. They should know by now that sometimes, people need to be left behind. Sucks, but one random woman is not worth risking everything for.
Wait. That was Lucy's father? And he has a teenage son? This was so ex-machina, I can barely wrap my head around it.
Man, if they don't pick this woman up and RUN...
Television always has instant labor. Labor can easily last a day. Yet, as soon as a woman goes into it, the baby is delivered within an hour on TV. Even with Wyatt saying he spent 22 hours delivering a baby in the past, the trope still persists with this woman. The port was only a mile away. It likely on took them 30 minutes, tops, to get there and back. So, you're telling me a woman went into labor and delivered a baby in 30 minutes? eyeroll
That "newborn" is HUGE! And looks rather Caucasian.
I rolled my eyes so hard they hurt at Lucy and Wyatt's heart-to-heart inside the church.
And damn, Wyatt sure does get over his women quickly.
Why didn't Wyatt shoot Emma on the spot? Honestly, why are these people still making rookie mistakes?
Why would the army shoot Emma who was separated from the group and already held at gunpoint first? Why wouldn't they take out the only one with a gun?
How many seats does the Mothership have? They all went into it (5 people), so if it has fewer than 5 seats, that means consequences for whoever's left standing. And if the Mothership has 5 seats, why has Rittenhouse also sent fewer than that number of people on a mission?
So Lucy is okay with altering time to save random people who originally died, but she doesn't want to do it for her sister? Get out of my face with that.
Why would they destroy the Mothership and not the OP Lifeboat? The Lifeboat has AUTO-PILOT. Anyone can steal it and use it without even knowing a thing about it. At least with the Mothership, if someone were to steal it, they wouldn't be able to properly use it without prior training.
Oh, man. I'm sorry, but that was not a good finale. That five-year jump was awful. It was a predictable end, but even worse, it implied Rittenhouse was over. No, it isn't. Rittenhouse was more than Emma, Carol, and that other guy. After Emma should have risen others. There are still children raised with the Rittenhouse mindset. Even without a time machine, they never would have given up. The BEST way to have fixed everything would have been to go back to WWI and kill that guy before Rittenhouse got to him. Rather, kill him as a child, before he got ideas about time travel in the first place. Without him, there would be no Rittenhouse.
This finale was just a rushed mess, and I don't blame the 2-hour time limit either. They tried to cram so much into the finale when it wasn't necessary. The Gold Rush and Zorro weren't necessary. North Korea and the pregnant lady weren't necessary. Forcing these in led to the main plot being underdeveloped and poorly paced. This isn't the worst finale I've seen, not by far. It isn't even necessarily bad. It just is not good. Objectively and subjectively, it is not...

Wait...future-them took the old Lifeboat. Isn't that troublesome? If the old one gets destroyed, the new one never exists. If the timeline if fixed, future them never travel back to give past-them the new Lifeboat. Isn't this whole situation just riddled with paradoxes?
And how did Lucy give the journal to Flynn if she gave it to herself? Are these two different versions of the same Lucy? If so, wouldn't the journals be different to reflect the altered timeline?
Why was Wyatt reading Lucy's journal in the first place? That should have been her eyes only, especially once it became clear it doubled as a diary.
Wyatt really was a jackass. There's no way that marriage would have worked.
M God, this back-and-forth love triangle mess is really ruining the show. Wyatt has no right to mope and cry about Jessica 24/7 and STILL be possessive and regretful over Lucy.
Oh, WTF? Flynn didn't deserve that. Here's what would have been a better ending: Wyatt goes back in time to kill Jessica and ends up dying next to his lover. Lucy grieves but Flynn is there for her, and Lucy realizes that Flynn has been honest and loyal to her from the start. Jump forward a year, Flynn and Lucy are holding hands in a park or something and walk by an alcoholic Wyatt who's drinking away the pain of losing Jessica. They pull him back onto his feet and tell him not to give up on life. He gets recruited by Agent Christopher alongside the others to build a NEW team that works to correct their own tamperings in history and stop other organizations across the world that have started tampering with time travel. And Jiya is pregnant. Yeah, this is kinda cliche and predictable but less so than what we actually got. And I came up with this alternate ending on the spot as opposed to having months, years to plan it out.
No, no, no, no, no, Rufus. You can't pull that, "you can talk to me about anything" line after an entire season of you not allowing Jiya to talk to you about anything.
Why don't they ever set the Lifeboat to arrive one day before the Mothership? At first, I though it was because the Lifeboat can't go any on its own. But we've now seen evidence that it can, even before it got upgraded.
It's about time Rittenhouse traveled just for the sake of setting a trap for the others. This finale is looking messy. A lot of rushing in this episode, yet the plot about the Zorro guy was still crammed in...

I thought that as a series finale after only a second season, they did very well tying up loose ends without causing the wrap-up to feel rushed. Most shows I've seen that have been canceled either fail to have closure because the story is unfinished, or have been canceled early to be given a budget to wrap the season, but most still feel rushed. They couldn't have pulled off being able to tie up so many loose ends in any unfinished story, let alone with one with the inherent complexities that come with the intricately interwoven threads of time travel without having planned as well as they did. This is a reactionary comment to watching the two-part finale, being so surprised since thinking that another story was left unfinished, and thrilled that the story didn't end with episode 10, then to feel so satisfied with how the pieces fit into place, questions answered well, and the decisions the characters made in context to their circumstances showing some of the best, and worst, qualities of humanity. Nicely done!
It is sad to lose another quality show, and an educational one as well. As a kid I wasn't thinking anything about the fact that I was learning something while watching Schoolhouse Rock between Saturday morning cartoons, but when I was in school I found that I already knew the preamble to the constitution, the Gettysburg Address, and other historical events, and even knew that 3 is a magic number when I encountered them in class and didn't have to study for what I had learned through short cartoons years before (a few years ago I ordered the DVD set for a girlfriend's daughter and another copy for myself that I can see sitting on a shelf right now). Anyway, I really enjoy a show that can teach without teaching, with characters who make us feel, while being able to make us believe in the best in people. Goodbye not-so-old friend, and thanks for the journey.
