Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan 2018

As a Turkish person, I can verify that most of the Turkish stuff in this show is accurate. They used Turkish actors and proper Turkish dialogue which isn't something you see on every show. Even the Turkish songs are VERY well-placed.

I found this show very entertaining. Binge-watched it on a Sunday and can’t hardly wait for season 2.

loading replies

Wow Dwight's training really paid off

loading replies

Loved season 1, but second season is meh

loading replies

Just finished Season 1. The show is very authentic. From the military and intel side at least. However its very hard to make a series about the CIA and portray the agency and their officers in a good light. I'm not sure if the show was aiming to have me root for the antagonist but I was sure hoping his arc would have continued. I definitely liked how it changed pov so it wasn't always from an American standpoint and there was justified reasons for the antagonist. Strong series so far.

first episode of the new season is pretty boring

Not Jack Ryan at all...... Boooo. Liar.

I found this show full of so many clichés... Too many! And JR, the main character, is so unbearable! Who does he think he is? The only good guy in the world? Please...

loading replies

First season was okay, more or less, than they decided to spend the equivalent of Mando's Helm for producing all the episodes. Terrible.

loading replies

this series really didn’t get good until the final episode when Jack Ryan stopped acting like a little bitch / season 2 wasn’t all I hoped for, but was decent enough

loading replies

Very few times you find a show that both seasons are equally as good. This series was excellent, one of the best ive had the pleasure of watching

Season 1 - Quality action adventure from Amazon Prime. Well written. Tight tension. Great international feel. Good performances (John Krasinski is a good dramatic actor). Great chemistry between Jack and Cathy. More nudity than I expected, sometimes gratuitous/salacious. The interplay between Jack and Greer made a great buddy pairing. I give this season an 8 (great) out of 10.

Season 2 - Eveything just fell below the standard set by the first season. The plot was fragmented. The story didn't rise to thrilling (except, maybe, the London segment). The multiple story lines watered down the action. There were too many leaps of credibility. I give the second season a 6.5 (not good enough) out of 10. Fortunately, the seasons do not depend on each other, just as some shows are "crime of the week", this is "espionage of the season". Each has its own story arc that stands alone. Even though this season fell flat for me, there is always the next one. [Action Adventure Spy/Terrorist Thriller]

I just finished watching the first season a little while ago. And despite the fact that my ratings on every episode weren't all 10/10, I'll give the show itself a 10/10. Plus, I have no doubt that the second season will be even better than the first.

loading replies

Who would have thought that a show I knew nothing about would be so entertaining, full of properly made and timely political and cultural exploration and accurate portrayal of most if not all of its aspects? It's such a gem in a time of boring yet popular series like Arrow or The Walking Dead. Looking forward to more of this!

This new version of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan is filled with great action, suburb acting across the board, great story telling from the people behind the camera. John Krasinski is a perfect casting for the Jack Ryan role he brings his own personality to the character breathing new life to the Jack Ryan character and lastly it's just a freaking awesome show cant wait for season two.

the all American action terror Muslim stuff. I'm actually kind of tired with that. like crime shows.... bored of them too. Still it's ok.

loading replies

Story is all like "America, fuck yeah". With the role of Greer they try to show how biased racist people are reacting different, when they finally meet a "good muslim", and that the religion is not a garanty for violance, but fail miserably some scenes later, when they meet/show "bad muslims". So the overall tone is still muslim=violent/bad and have therefore absolutly no rights and americans are above any doubt.
Also the actions of the characters are not always comprehensible. For example: "Oh, there is a woman getting raped in Afghanistan, while we are sitting in a drone controll center in America. We can't do nothing. Let's bomb the shit out of this village, endanger the women herself and high five after that while laughing." Two episodes later still no consquence for the "pilot" whatsoever. *facepalm. Or: "We are following him with distance, so he leads us to his boss. Oh, there is his vehicle on an empty parking lot infront of a big hotel full of windows. Let's aproach the car with guns out."
Getting angry while watching it.

loading replies

This show did a very, very good job at evenly depicting character progression. From Jack Ryan himself, to the antagonist and his family, to someone even as simple as the drone pilot. Well developed, written and portrayed storyline. Easy to watch, hard to stop.

loading replies

The show delivers on what it promises, it's a classic spy story around the Tom Clancy character. The story is well paced, characters are interesting and the depictions of the action is plausible. The whole is largely helped by another superb score signed by Ramin Djawadi (Person of Interest, Game of Thrones).

While it hasn't prevented me from suspending my disbelief, you might find yourself scratching your head at some cliche plot points. Those might have more to do with the source material than the series, even though it certainly doesn't look to address them.

loading replies

Brilliant, always been a huge fan of the Jack Ryan character my personal favorite is always been Harrison Ford. But this show is outstanding.

loading replies

This show is really good. Defiantly worth a watch.

loading replies

stunningly good series. It's a totally new interpretation of Jack Ryan and his road to fame within the CIA, loosely based on the original novels and unrelated to any movie or whatever. I enjoyed season 1 a lot. It's graphical and definitely worth a R rating for all that can lead to it. Looking forward to season 2 and 3 (season 3 has already been confirmed before season 2 finished shooting)

loading replies

Great show, easy watch. Good X-ray additions from Amazon, wish other services have it too. I hope season 2 will be good also.

loading replies

Rare to see John Krasinski playing a role like this, and Tom Clany’s Jack Ryan has a lot to tell from so many books over the years. The action was fantastic, and the suspense leaves you at the edge of your seat wanting more. Genuinely they did a fantastic job with all the Turkish, Yemeni, Syrian and French aspects get all the right details in which just makes it even more genuine and high quality. Michael Bay being part of this is a plus.

Love the twists and turns, binged watch all 8 episodes and can’t wait for season 2.

loading replies

Absolutely brilliant job of modernizing characters created 30 years ago. Superb story, well-written, big budget, and once you get past the first episode, nail-biting suspense. Tom Clancy's stories have always been superb, and politically ahead of times, and it's nice to see the heart of his stories and political insights persisting here. I love this show, because it really feels like a Tom Clancy story, and really I hate having to wait a year to get the next installment!

To really appreciate the awesomeness of this series, pick up some Jack Ryan Tom Clancy novels - start with "The Hunt for Red October".

Now let's give Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt some TV love :)

Otherwise, fun to see reviews from people who've never picked up a book...

loading replies

It's an okay show. I commend the use of foreign language for such a big american production, but most of the plot line is cliche. Berlin Station is currently more entertaining.

loading replies

Brilliant. Cannot wait for season 2.

loading replies

Seemed a little bit "amateur" for the first episodes. People are saying it's a mix of "Homeland" and "24", but "Homeland" felt so much more realistic.

loading replies

Found each new story original and thrilling.

loading replies

Overall pretty good series. S1 was excellent as it was well thought out and had a nice quick pace. The rest were good too but also introduced had more by the book story telling and distractions, but overall was enjoyable. S3 was a nice old school cold war spy vs spy tale.

loading replies

The odd seasons were definitely better than the even ones. In the end, though, the series suffers from poor/2-dimensional characterization, too much action and too little intricate plotting. It's an ordinary drama that has few distinctive features - well, it's only got one which is the title character. However, when I hear Jack Ryan I won't remember this iteration.

loading replies

Loved it! This is a chill political action thriller that I watched after a long time.

loading replies

Loved the show. Too bad it came to an end.

loading replies

Great show!!! Very authentic, great actors!

loading replies

What a great show! Why did it stop?

loading replies

Season 3 started of really bad and I feared a repeat of the horrific second season and after the first two episodes I actually took an hiatus. Today I picked it up again and I was pleasantly surprised that the rest of the season was more or less the Jack Ryan I was hoping for. However I still had some irritation regarding the plot, acting and the motivation regarding the main characters. I'm glad it's only one season left and hopefully they will end it on top.

abysmal dialogue, pulled directly from the cliche encyclopedia

Does not try to shove none of sexual belives & political crap like the other shows.
Very good 3rd season. well done and acted, amazing old fashion show!

Hoping season 4 doesn't go full on woke as hinted in the final episode of season 3, but then again Amazon did produce the utter failure that is RoP

loading replies

Unfortunately this show is going dumber each season. 1 was good. 2 was ok, 3 is meh. No native language speaking, dark scenes where you can't even see faces, travels that would only be possible with Star Trek beam up technology. Still action packed and watchable if you turn your brain off.

loading replies

I really have to say that I just finished the third season and I still find it spectacular. This last season especially. They have incredibly captured the scene of Tom Clancy's character. From honor, bravery, loyalty. All. Masterfully interpreted in my opinion.

loading replies

Just love this show enjoyed 3 seasons of it

loading replies

I said it after the last series and I'll say it again - this is a decent action packed series but if you have read all of Clancy's books then you know that Ryan is an analyst yet here he leads the way from the front. He isn't a SEAL. How do you get from the Black Sea to a beach of the coast of Athens in a Dinghy passing through the Dardanelles.

Just binged Season 3, it is amazing

I have to give a special shout out to the opening credit sequence it's really very well done & fub to watch. I know totally random & unrelated but worth a mention. I love the author he's one of my faves. the show does JR justice I like it.

loading replies

Not as good as "Homeland" but it isn't supposed to be. For what they have, they do a pretty good job. Anyone who has read the books will probably say that they could have done a LOT worse.

Looking forward to watching season two. It's good enough to fill some free time.

loading replies

I wanted to enjoy it, I just finished watching homeland and thought this could fill my investigation action suspense void, I was very wrong.

Don't waste your time on this, the plot characters and dialogue is just cheesy. Go watch homeland if you haven't yet. If you have and think this might somewhat similar, it isn't.

loading replies

season 1 very good season 2 brill , good story lines and acting top class

loading replies

Pretty interesting concept on paper and pretty rare to see in tv show format. The whole military and cia stuff is accurate to real life but unfortunately the series falls too often in spy movies tropes and stereotypes. Add this to some inconsistent story telling (with one arc in particular which was COMPLETELY pointless) and cheesy action scenes or dialogues and you get a disappointing result. Although it was fun seeing Jim Krasinski in a badass role

loading replies

Good show with bad casting. Big Tuna is not a good fit for action shows.

loading replies

The first episode was good but things slowly take a turn from there. I lost interest by the third episode. Wendell Pierce/James Geer is the only reason I made this far into the season; he's a good actor, but often underrated.

loading replies

Amazon needs to step up it's offer, this show is too weak for the bugdet it got, it would have been fine in 2003 or something but it's 2018!

loading replies

I really liked those 8 EPs, and I could enjoy more. And I hope they will continue the drama, crime and CIA conspiracy. I really recommend this. Now I have a big hole in my days, as this was really interesting and fun to watch.

loading replies

it was good, but not my favorite Jack Ryan yet. i get that this is a modern jack ryan that sees data befire he sees the person. but he seems awefully tempermental.

loading replies

Enjoyed it. Jack needs to be bitch slapped a little, but hopefully he grows up a little in the next season.
Really happy they didn't string things along '24' style. That being said, I wouldn't have minded them taking things a little bit slower and adding a few more episodes. Looking forward to season 2.

loading replies

Fantastic show. Great scenery, locations and filming. Sound track excellent as well. Obviously a big budget production.
Great acting and action scenes.
Very topical in these times also.
Highly recommend......

loading replies

As a fan of such classics as 24 and Homeland I tend to get extremely dissapointed with modern terrorist shows. Jack Ryan doesn't really come close to the other two but it has some great elements. John Kasinski, Wendell Pierce and Abbie Cornish all have the chemistrey that work here. It doesn't feel over the top, character development seems believable and some of the threats and execution are on point. Definitely a good watch for anyone seeking an action show.

loading replies

Great Tv show, Great Dialogue, lot of Suspense, absolutely recommend it.

loading replies

It's brilliant AMAZING . I knew Tom Clancy's Stories for the first time with Ghost Recon, when I realized this shows is based on a Tom story I just had to watch it. After the first episode everything is suspense and adrenaline; final episode... God is so dramatic ! you'd better get popcorns hahaha. Seriusly you have to watch it, sad I will have to wait almost a year

This show proves that 13 Hours wasn't a fluke. Krasinski can definitely be a badass. Great acting, realistic scenes, and the best part is all the pissed off liberals saying the show is anti-muslim.

These types of shows were much more entertaining when the enemy was the Russians. That's how Tom Clancy wrote the character anyway. Also I think I saw this show already. It was called Homeland.
