Unbelievable: Season 1

1x01 Episode 1

Watching this made me mad. Each time they questioned her I could see it made her less certain. I understand what was happening. Nobody's going back to the beat cops notes (which were the best). They just didn't know (and couldn't tell) how fragile she was.

I understand what happened but I would never retract something I said even if I had lied. It's just not in my nature. I double down.

Watching this makes me mad BUT not because the girl get raped and had a hard time after, but mostly because of how leftist crew portrays cops as amateur assholes being unable to communicate with the victim.

And the session at the end, when the subject is being discussed once again in a circle of girl's friends in a one-sided manner is HIGHLY unrealistic.
Looks like another TV show for a mad 14 yr old white girls who hates the world for little to no reason.
So this one is going straight to the trash for me along with "Euphoria"

The events in this episode made me angry for so many reasons. It illustrates perfectly why so many victims of sexual assault remain silent. There is no 'right' or 'common' way to react to this level of trauma...

Textured storytelling. A bit like the Sinner. Not intentionally feminist. And based on real events, like Mindhunter.

I think a lot of girls in Marie's shoes would have also retracted their statements.

Doesn't seem right for not a single female officer/detective to be involved in a rape case. Also, that dismissive nurse was the absolute worst.

Watched this 100% for Kaitlyn Dever, remembering her from season 2 of Justified. She's a talented actress, and watching her in this situation was difficult. I could see where the cops were coming from, doubting her, but they were also getting information from people who weren't there. They had to have known the questioning was extending the trauma of the assault, and where were the female officers they usually use to handle more delicate situations like this?

I can sympathize with how hard and tedious the process is to keep repeating what you went through, and maybe there's some changes the system can make to make it easier on the victim, but the investigators have to screen out those who are lying, and they need to move fast on legitimate cases in order to gather evidence and apprehend the perpatrator.

This isn't the 1950s, a lot of progress has been made, the methods and system of which has been influenced by female police and victims and victim advocates.

It's understandable the conclusion the detectives came up with, given the combination of her past, current behavior (Which i also think is unrealistic, as part of an ideological agenda by the creators against what they perceive as the system actually being like against victims, and what victims behave like), and many inconsistencies, and then saying it was all made up, which stops the investigation into an active rapist.

I'm not interested in watching the show further. I don't like the main character and i'm not interested in following her journey.
