For all the flaws this show had after Ragnars death I think this is a decent and saitsfactory ending. And at least they didnt ruin the legacy of (and my enjoyment in rewatching) the first seasons like a certain other show. The first three seasons will always remain one of favorites of any show ever.
Out of all the deaths, I didn’t expect Ivar’s to be the one that would get me. His talk with Hvitserk, his admission of fear, a great performance by Alex Høgh Andersen  Couldn’t help but shed a few tears..
I loved Floki telling Ubbe that he looks like Ragnar, their talk on the beach was a bittersweet end to conclude the story.
This show has had its ups and downs, it especially suffered in the last two seasons, but I think we got a somewhat decent ending…
They should’ve killed off Ivar a long time a go. What was the whole point of the Rus storyline? That was completely random.
Enjoyed the Journey. Don't care for the conclusion. Nice production. Rich scenery. Appreciate the effort done in the making. Thank you History channel and looking forward to the next spin-off.
Although the series got worse since it focused especially on the sons of Ragnar, turning into a kind of Viking soap opera, I have to admit that some moments have achieved the height of those first seasons. And that the outcome (not the end, because the story continues with the series "Vikings: Valhalla" that Michael Hirst is preparing for Netflix, including the return to Kattegat), in a highly irregular sixth season, has been in these last episodes designed with talent.
Michael Hirst has managed to close the circle of Ragnar with his four children: Bjorn (epic), Ivar (a somewhat tricky ending, dedicating part of the final episodes to "sweeten" his profile, to make it more emotional), Hvitserk (consistent with his character) and Ubbe (although falsifying reality, he manages to be the true representation of Ragnar). And the award is appreciated to the fans when one of the mythical characters is recovered.
I really loved this show, but I was really hoping the ending was going to be all of them reunited in Valhalla together.
I never really thought I would like Ivar but this season proved me wrong. Specially that scene with his brother.
I hated him since his first episodes, man, Alex really knows how to act, he made me hate the character, find awe and ultimately like him. I'll look for more of him in the future.
I don't understand why Ivar lost the war. Wasn't everyone saying that the Saxons were outnumbered? The guy who killed Harald was even telling Alfred to retreat. Alfred not retreating seemed like a desperate move. Is it because Harald and Ivar died? But then why did Ivar have to die? Could he have avoided breaking his bones or was it time for it to happen, so then he decided to go out like a warrior to reach Valhalla? It's all conjecture from me, since they didn't make anything clear.
It was emotional seeing Hvitserk and Ivar like that. Ivar showing love for a brother was great to see. Also loved seeing Ivar speak Norse again.
It was amusing seeing the guy who stabbed Ivar run away just in case. The opposite of what the guy who killed Harald did. An interesting parallel that shows how much more weight Ivar's name has and how feared he is.
"Valhalla is not for you, my friend". I loved Ubbe saying that because it had many meanings. He showed mercy since the blood eagle would've been pointless, but at the same time basically told him he's a coward.
I can't stand Ingrid and her being Queen.
Wait, wait, wait! I just found out it's the ending. This is how the series ends!? That's a bit underwhelming. Ubbe's story is the only ending I like. Although I would've liked to see more of his adventures, it made sense ending it there. Ingrid Queen of Kattegat? Trash. Hvitserk's ending? Just meh, like most of the things happening to his character. Ivar's death was emotional, but they could've made it more epic. At least Alfred saw it happen though.
Better than I had anticipated but still not as good as the other high points of the show. Though the one thing that really bothers me is that Hvitserk of all people made it to the end, the most cowardly and untrustworthy of Ragnar's sons - so much he should have been Rollo's son instead. On the plus side, he's England's problem now.
I don't really know what to say. Feel a bit empty after finishing this show. Hollow. Will one day revisit it!
In his last scene, I actually liked Ivar. It was a good death scene, even though it felt off that he was killed by someone so random.
Hvitserk converting feels like a joke. He is such a lost cause. Such a weird character. Always does what's easiest. Like a feather in the wind. Fears Ivar to death and then he suddenly loves him again?! Glad that Alfred lived though. His Queen was right! Good he listened to her and used her strategy.
As for Ingrid, well… the Seer foretold a woman would rule Kattegat. After Aslaug and Lagertha she just feels like a huge letdown. The Kattegat storyline simply sucked.
So happy Torvi, Ubbe, baby Ragnar and Floki are alive! Loved the end to their storyline. Amazing, how Gustaf was the only actor to appear in the first and last episode. The death count … uncountable.
All in all, I still loved this series! It's amazing how many generations we saw and all those connected stories… will think about this show for sure in the future.
Pqp, what a disappointing ending, the only thing that saved was the return of Floki!
It's a nice ending... Despite of all historical inaccuracies, it is a great narrative.
Somewhere in the middle of the whole thing I started liking Ivar.
Vikings were disbanded after all! But, somehow, they are still present among the peoples they came into contact. And this, in my humble opinion, is one of the great things about civilization's evolving and transforming process: they are never completely gone.
Superb end to a brilliant tv show, going to miss it!
Seriously, that's how ivar died ? Worst season ending...
Okay, this was very disappointing, BUT "Heilung" finally got 3 songs into the show and they fit perfectly!
I really don't understand how the Vikings lost or how Ivars death saved his brother.
Beautiful ending and I must say, the opening tune is one of my favorites!
What a cheesy final episode(s).
Should've stopped watching this three seasons ago...
I thought it was a good ending for the series because it made the story boring. Unless they produce a new season
Ivar's death was the one that made me cry the most, seeing the movements he makes and how he confesses to his brother that he is afraid was one of the things that I liked the most. Ivar was one of the characters I liked the most since Ragnar's death.
cheesy ending, could be better :-(
Hoped for a better ending :(

For me, personally, this couldn't have been written any better. I loved it! I know not everyone will but for me it did the show justice. It was bittersweet and in line with how the show did things in all its seasons. When Hvitserk is given his new name 'Athelstan' I had to push back some tears. It's like the story has come full circle in a way. Ragnar took Athelstan with him on his first quest and now a son of Ragnar has taken place in Wessex as Athelstan, a name given to him by none other than his son.
Ivar's death was more heartbreaking than I could've imagined. I never thought I'd be shedding tears over him. He changed a lot during his time with the Rus and it is beautiful that he essentially gave his life to ensure that of Hvitserk. These two had such a deep bond and I wondered how it would conclude. I always thought one would kill the other but this was beautiful and tragic all at once.
The last scene of Floki and Ubbe on that beach was so well written too. When Floki tells Ubbe he looks like Ragnar, beautiful. Such a pure scene of two men with deep respect and love for each other. Ragnar would be proud of that.
Now if there is one thing I would like to have seen different it would be Ingrid, living her best life as Queen. I never cared for her though I can admit she is a force. She stood her ground against Harald and Erik but I think I never really warmed up to her because she got with Bjorn while he was already married to Gunnhild and I loved Gunnhild like I loved Lagertha.
I'll say goodbye to this epic adventure for now... probably going to re-watch it in the future and appreciate it all over again.
