Lagertha deserved a better more epic death :(
Get fucked Bjorn, you annoying bitch.
This was hard to watch.
The voting part was interesting. Not sure there is anything historic about it, but fun. And it goes as expected. Clearly Harald would have lobbied. He was also the closest to the title before, many would have been under him I guess. Bjorn has no experience of power, and voting for him would have brought no benefits. Clearly the public vote means some changed their mind to get Harald's favour once the wind turned.
And that's why Kjetil was all suspicious looking. I expected worse to be honest. But it's not clear what happened. Did Harald really planned to kill Bjorn ? That seems really ungrateful and a little out of character for him. Or was it because he wasn't at the feast ? And why would Kjetil warn Bjorn ? Didn't he want him dead ? Still possible that this was all arranged by Kjetil. Including Erik's help. But maybe he would have like to be left there.
The subplot with Oleg's wife is weird. She's supposed to be at least nobility right ? So even if Oleg would do that, why would she be so enthusiastic to take part ? Unless she's a random girl he recruited just to mess with Ivar ?
Lagertha's village second battle was interesting. Obviously the guy at the gate was a lure and sacrifice, but what about the children ? Did they sent children to die as bait to lure the bandits in ?
The labyrinth fight was great, though I wonder, seeing how they barely had time to build it, how much training would they have had at manipulating the walls and traps, opening and closing paths, etc. More fire would have been smart. Lagertha's fight was ok I guess. Pretty ironic the guy wanted his honor and go to Valhalla when he was murdering a child not long ago. Very stupid of her to fight him like this, but maybe not for a viking I guess. Even more stupid to go back after, wounded like she was.
And damn, as soon as you see Hvitserk, you know she'll be crawling around and he will think she's Ivar or something. What a way to go for the last original character... And couldn't she have used her last words to say what she came to say ? The song was a little too much though. But at least Hvitserk has done something for the first time in the show. Good for him I guess.
I feel like I spoiled myself when I remembered the prophecy in the middle of that epic fight. :disappointed_relieved:
Now that Hvitserk finally did a thing, can he please just disappear?... On the other hand, for him to be in a story with so many unremarkable characters that are disposed of frequently for so long while doing so little is actually kind of impressive.
That battle with Lagertha almost brought me to tears.
And the end... oh gods. I mean it was both foretold and somewhat suggested/predicable when the scene was closing in, but it got me so hard.
It was really time for Lagertha to die. She didn't had a purpose anymore. It had to be tragic and sad, so I understand why they didn't kill her in battle. I would have preferred her to die by rescuing Bjorn, but I liked this ending as well.. after all it's what the Seer said.
She deserved a warriors death by the hands of an equal opponent
Lagertha is honestly one of the best, most badass characters out there and I am so sad to see her go but man did she go out like a warrior! I truly enjoyed that one on one combat, I was sure it was going to be the end of her but she managed to survive and get herself back to Kattegat. The fact that it was Hvitserk who ultimately killed her was a stellar move. I'm probably not the only one who thought it was going to be Ivar but this was beautifully tragic. I can't blame Hvitserk, he is in such a dark place plus Lagertha was already dying at this point, he only sped it along. Tragic, beautiful, heartbreaking and badass.
I am not even mad at Harald either. I am always team Bjorn but this has been literally Harald's dream and we've always known it, everyone knows it. I felt kind of happy for him even though it did mean betraying Bjorn in the process. He looked so happy with that crown on his head and I wanted him to have that moment. HOWEVER if it was truly Harald who ordered the attack on Bjorn, oof, shame on him, after everything Bjorn did for him. I'm not a 100% sure if this was Harald's move though because I don't trust Kjetill.
some characters playing games with us
She died in a stupid way by the hand of a stupid character.
I'm getting fed up with Harald's accent.
NOOOOO LAGARTHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
Although not unexpected it's a shame to see her go... Although she has been tired and "old" the past season. The show would do good to have a better indication of time however as it's starting to get quite unclear how many years have passed even though all these pretty people remain visions of youth.
This became especially clear when Eric the viking saved Bjorn and spoke of being too young to have known Ragnar, making him younger than Bjorn and some of his half brothers though not looking the age.
All by all... give me more vikings.
Give me more Katheryn Winnick too.
I really like this show, and this was an fantastic episode in my opinion.
Lagertha <3

Vikings turning into a WTHITH series wasn't what I expected when I first started watching it back when season 1 just came out. What does WTHITH stand for you wonder? Why The Hell Is This Happening
Why the hell is Lageartha dying in such a weird, uninteresting way that just leaves me thinking "wait, what, why"
Why the hell is there a plot involving Ivar's dead wife that is now ressurected and SOMEHOW ended up in Ukraine and SOMEHOW she met prince Oleg and told him all about Ivar and if it's not actually Freydis then it makes no sense and is unbelievably stupid
Why the hell does the Flatnose guy that Edge plays suddenly does a complete 180 and saves Bjorn when his goal all along was to kill him
Why the hell does the guy that saves Bjorn that looks like he's 45 say that he's too young to remember Ragnar
Why the hell there isn't a single character from season 1 alive anymore (and played by the same actor)
Why the hell there hasn't been one scene involving King Alfred this season
Why
Fuck me I'm glad that this is the final season. Let it rest already.
