Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song- 2021

This is one of the best anime(s) of Spring 2021. Animation, Story, Music, Plot, Characters everything was top-notch. There wasn't a single thing that was disappointing for me.
I was hoping for more than one season but it definitely won't be happening anymore since they did gave a proper closure to the entire concept.
I'll definitely recommend this to everyone, even if you're not into "Mecha" themed anime(s). It'll be worth your time.

As others have pointed out, this one has to be commended for the presentation as well as some fantastic tunes. When it comes to the story however it doesn't really go very deep as the world building is lacking and Matsumoto is kinda annoying and the secret "hero" here. Still, some of the episodic entries were quite good so I'll give it to them.

Vivy is notably one of the best looking anime for some time. The action sequences are awe inspiring with Wit Studio really flexing their muscle here, especially with this being from their B Team. That said, Vivy sets out lofty goals with being an AI based storyline, asking many of the difficult questions that come with such a premise. What is purpose? What makes something human/sentient? Where do the barriers between hardcoded programming and freewill blur? While some of these deep topics are handled well, the final note of the anime feels squandered and lost in a sea of empty hypothetical questions and an all too easy finale. I also think some of this lost meaning and impact is down to Funimations sometimes laughably bad translation effort, which makes some of the exchanges between characters completely incomprehensible during key scenes.
Overall, Vivy is still a joy to watch, even if the main emotional message is lost in the weeds. Definitely worth your time if you're a fan of Nier Automata, Ghost in the Shell etc.
