The aspect that I personally find intriguing, and that pushes me to watch the second season as well, is to understand if the aliens, evidently human, are a kind of "fork" of terrestrial humanity which, once discovered the way to curve spacetime and travel instantly into the universe, they colonized another planet but experienced extinction for some reason.
