There are literally dozens of documentarys about WWII out there and I don´t think this is among the better ones.

What you get here is a chronological, kind of detailed and analytical series that depicts the events that led to WWII until the end of it. But in the end it is very dry, monotone and ultimately superfical. What Do I mean ? Well, you get lots of information - every important event is there but not in the deepest detail.

All this is presented through original footage - at times repeated and I´m sure not always from the actual event - with sound effects (explosions, guns, sounds of war in general) that are not originally in the footage and a commentary that sounds like someone reading an audiobook. All that is underlaid with a generic soundtrack that gets nerving pretty fast.

I would recommend this only to people who don´t have deep knowledge about that period and just want to get a quick overview about the events.
