TV 2 er for første gang klar med 'X Factor', og er der noget bedre sted at begynde end i Odense - byen, hvor TV 2 har sine rødder? Her står håbefulde sangere og bands klar til at komme til auditions hos den nye dommertrio Ankerstjerne, Oh Land og Thomas Blachman. Men talenterne vælter ikke ligefrem ind, og det bekymrer de to nye dommere Oh Land og Ankerstjerne. Den garvede dommer Thomas Blachman tager det med knusende ro og fælder dom over både de fremmødte deltagere og sine to meddommere. Heldigvis står vært Sofie Linde altid klar med kram, når mange må tage skuffede hjem, alt imens hun selv bliver kastet rundt i en følelsesmæssig centrifuge af grin, gråd og masser af jubel.
Dommerne har fået deres kategorier, og nu begynder det hårde arbejde med at skære ned i de mange dygtige talenter, der er gået videre fra auditions. Hvem skal kæmpe om de fem stole til den altid dramatiske 'Five Chair Challenge'? På det gamle værft i Svendborg er Ankerstjerne første kaptajn, mens hans meddommere, Oh Land og Blachman, lytter med fra sidelinjen. Men det kommer fuldstændigt bag på ham, hvor svært det er at vælge blandt de mange talenter. Vært Sofie Linde står klar med et par beroligende ord til deltagerne, inden de går på scenen for at optræde foran et forventningsfuldt publikum. Til dem, der må tage skuffede hjem, er der altid en krammer fra Sofie.
Kun plads til fem deltagere! Det er virkeligheden for Oh Land, der nu skal vælge mellem sine deltagere i den altid dramatiske 'Five Chair Challenge'. Deltagerne skruer op for både charme og opfindsomhed for at imponere Oh Land, for alle drømmer om at få en af de fem stole, der betyder en plads videre i konkurrencen. Oh Land kommer i vildrede og må kalde på hjælp fra Sofie Linde. Ankerstjerne får samlet sit team af deltagere til bootcamp, men må undervejs forlade dommerbordet for at kunne træffe de rigtige beslutninger. Blachman holder sig ikke tilbage med at kommentere på både deltagere og sine to meddommere.
Fem stole på scenen i Svendborg og et veloplagt publikum tager imod solisterne over 23 år. Og Thomas Blachman er manden, der afgør solisternes videre skæbne i 'X Factor'. Hvem har Blachman udvalgt blandt de mange deltagere, der gik videre fra audition? Og hvad har de at byde på for at få en af de eftertragtede fem stole? Oh Land og Ankerstjerne tilbyder faglig førstehjælp til Blachman, der kommer ud i nogle følelsesmæssige svære valg, og bag scenen hepper Sofie Linde på, at alle får en stol. Men kun fem deltagere kan gå hjem med en billet til årets bootcamp.
Fra auditions til 'Five Chair Challenge' til bootcamp og liveshows - og nu står de her! De tre finalister har kæmpet sig frem til finalen og er nu klar til at indtage Danmarks største livescene i et kæmpe finaleshow. 'X Factor' er rykket til Forum Horsens, hvor Sofie Linde står klar til at byde velkommen til både publikum, seere, deltagere og dommere.

We are ready for a new season 'X Factor' on TV 2, and we begin auditions in Copenhagen where lots of hopeful singing talents dream of being the next winner of 'X Factor'. The judges Ankerstjerne, Oh Land and Thomas Blachman have towering expectations and are looking for authenticity, strong singing voices and lots of musicality - and then just that extra thing that is needed to move on. And for those who must already leave 'X Factor' after the first song, Sofie Linde is fortunately ready with a hug and loving words.
In Aarhus, the queue of hopeful participants is long, and Ankerstjerne, Oh Land and Thomas Blachman await a hard working day with both ups and downs. The three judges are hard to impress after some good auditions in Copenhagen, and this is felt by many of the attendees. Still, they managed to surprise the judging trio - and then a serious theme emerged that made Ankerstjerne, Oh Land and Blachman go to the fight against bullying in primary school.
The hunt for next years winner of 'X factor' continues. A bunch of expectant participants have defied rain and wind, and are now ready to give it all in front of the judges. In both Copenhagen and Aarhus awaits the judging trio many surprises. One of the contestants especially goes straight to the heart of Ankerstjerne. Sofie Linde and all the waiting participants are ready with support. Thomac Blachman throws himself into a clairvoyant guessing game.
Ankerstjerne, Oh Land and Thomas Blachman do not always agree on who deserves a yes for this year's auditions. Therefore, there is a challenging task ahead of the three judges when they must jointly select this year's participants for the '5 Chair Challenge'. Can they agree on who is going to continue in the competition? They are only told which category to work with once they have agreed. But first they have just the last auditions, they must listen to.
The three judges have unanimously selected all the participants for the '5 Chair Challenge', but the selected participants do not yet know which judge will decide their further fate in 'X Factor'. Who should they impress to get one of the five sought after chairs? Oh Land is the first judge to pick the chairs and she is thrown out in some tough decisions. She especially makes one choice she comes to regret, and must call a participant back on stage.
Thomas Blachman is the main judge of the second '5 Chair Challenge'. He is confident of the task of cutting the field, but must admit along the way that several of the participants did not live up to his expectations and therefore have to leave the 'X Factor'. Disappointments and surprises is waiting when the tables turn on who ends up in the five desired chairs
It's the groups 'turn to go on stage in the always dramatic' 5 Chair Challenge ', and it's Ankerstjerne's turn to hand out chairs. He looks forward to being blown back by the talented groups where he has some clear favorites. But it doesn't go quite as he expected, and it frustrates Ankerstjerne. He therefore sees only one way out if he wants to have a chance against Oh Land and Blachman's categories who are teeming with talent.

For the first time, Blachman's young soloists, Oh Land's soloists over 23 and Ankerstjerne's groups will be singing live for Denmark in 'X Factor' 2020.
All the live participants have been on stage for the very first live show, and now it's all up to Denmark and the judges: Who will be on stage again next time?
With songs from the 1980s, the eight live participants will try to sing straight into the hearts of both viewers and the three judges Blachman, Oh Land and Ankerstjerne.

X Factor is finally back! This is something the living participants have been looking forward to, and they have spent the long break practicing 'songs from great music films'. Ankerstjerne, Oh Land and Thomas Blachman are also looking forward to continue their feud, and there will be something to fight for when the contestants again enter the big live stage. The danger zone is canceled, so now only the viewers' voices apply. Who will get enough votes to advance straight to the finals?
In the finale, the big guns are fired. The four finalists sing duets with Danish artists, and then their judge has made a final and decisive song choice when the participants have to impress the viewers to vote for just them. It's the last chance to show who deserves to win. Every vote counts when the finalists each go on stage twice.
The final three finalists perform with their first single in their own name - and the song will determine who wins 'X Factor 2020'
