This isn't what I expected. I was just imagining Big Bang Theory-esque scenes, but this is more like In the Middle with Sheldon. I like it. Still had me cracking up too.
Has to be the worst, most low-IQ show to ever exist.
The first two seasons were OK, some funny stuff. Now it seems to just be a boring repeat over and over again. I just can't sit through an episode anymore, it's just gotten kind of dumb.
Love how they cast the daughter of the actress who plays Sheldon's mom on The Big Bang Theory to play her younger self she is just like her mom
Well. It is just as (un)funny as the Big Bang Theory. But in opposite to that, it is really well made. They found a lot of great matches for the roles, and specially Ian as Young Sheldon plays a really convincing role as the Sheldon we all already know. also the mother is a great find, specially since the actress is the daughter of the Tbbt Mary Coopers actress. also it is much better than a sitcom version, and much more serious, but it is as a spin-off totally depending on the Big bang theory. nobody who hasn't watched Tbbt will understand anything in Young Sheldon, since mostly these are inside jokes or they are relations to what already is known from the big bang theory. But, since this is a spin-off, I did not have high hopes, since most spin-offs of great shows are catastrophic. (Friends for example was brilliant while Joeys own show was so bad to be cancelled after two seasons. ) but, since I knew that the Big Bang theory is the most overrated Show of all time, which is in my opinion not even remotely funny, this spin off is much better.
But, still in my opinion the only funny scenes are those with guest stars such as Elon Musk, who also is one of the few person who made a funny Big Bang theory scene.
all in all: I expexted less, but it is quite good and I will keep on watching the show.
I think this is going to be one of those shows that people are going to love or hate. So much hate and doubt regarding it before the first episode even aired! I just watched the first episode and liked it. I'm not sure if it's going to last though. I'm a huge TBBT fan and even love the current seasons. You're just going to have to try it out for yourself and see if you enjoy it or not.
After watching the pilot episode , I'm not hooked yet . I'll give it a few weeks to get better . Pilot had no laughs for me . Casting seems good , especially his Mother . They're kind of in a dangerous genre , first it's a spin-off , and second it's a retro family comedy . There are always lots of family comedies to choose from . Right now in fact one of the best retro family comedies of all time-The Goldbergs- happens to be running . I'm a fan of TBBT , especially Sheldon , but I'm not necessarily going to watch Young Sheldon . November 2 is the scheduled date of the second episode .
Edit - After 5 episodes , I can say that I still don't find the show funny . The male characters seem to be the weakest link in the show . The Father , brother , and Tam are forgettable while his Mother , sister and Grandmother actually have personality . That said , it's still quite watchable for rainy day viewing .
Dead man walking. I see it getting cancelled halfthrough the season.
Well, this is obviously going nowhere... the story is getting more boring by the episode, and clearly the writers have no idea how to write an interesting, funny story.... i did like the first couple of seasons, But as the kids grow up, it's another case of Modern family, just read their lines, an not really acting....
I wish I didn't have to know that I was on the same planet as this, but here I am I guess.
Sadly becomes more boring after each new episode.... getting a bit tired of the narrative as well....
Family / Comedy. Emphasis on former. Not really diggin' it.
Feels like a better comedy show than TBBT at times:thinking:
Good PG-rated comedy show. They're a dime in a dozen.
More fun than I care too admit - and I despise TBBT.
I assume that they will try to milk this for at least 7 seasons, probably around Season 4 it’ll become a bit boring.
I like this better than Big Bang Theory which it prequels. Lighthearted comedy, which is not vulgar, edgy or pushy. It has elements of nostalgia and does some inside jokes of foreshadowing (if you've watched Big Bang Theory). Its stronger qualities are comedy = 6/10, dialog = 7/10 and story telling = 8/10.
nice show, gives you a little chuckle in this big bad world. its great to see where all of Sheldon's hang ups and quirks come from and hopefully will get a few more seasons.
I really have enjoyed this show so far, i think they did an excellent job casting and everyone works very well with each other. I find myself enjoying this show more than TBBT now, just wish i didn't have to wait a month before the next episode airs,
Good show, hope it continues. Very good casting on the mom she looks exactly like Sheldon's mom in TBBT but younger.
His sister is the star of this show
Wow, talk about beating the dead horse.
Heard that Gorge Jr. and Mandy are getting their own spin-off. Amazing news if it is true.
This is a show that started out as a casual watch but once I reached the 4th season I was completely hooked. This has some light-hearted moments mixed with serious topics about growing up, religion, teenage pregnancy etc. The most recent season (season 6) I was able to watch in about a week because I was so engrossed and wanted to know what would happen, definitely excited for the next season now.
I'm only rating this 8 out of 10 as the first couple of seasons were ok but I feel like this was a show that took a little while to find its feet.
Interesting. I watched this out of desperation while being sick and went from „what a bad show“ to „the more it moves away from Sheldon, the better it gets“. And season 4, 5, 6 really got me, and it’s fun and somewhat deep. I binged pretty much all of it and don’t regret it. I gotten to love the cast, my faves are Dale, Brenda, Billy, George, Rob, meemaw… it’s kind of an oldschool show, has the 90s touch and is well written in my opinion.
I even feel the real weight of having a „special“ family member and the obstacles having a family while living on a budget. And it’s still funny. There’s a lot of times when I got the feeling that this or that was written only to connect to TBBT, which drags it down a bit. I wonder how this would have been if it wouldn’t be a prequel but it’s own show, which it is mostly by now, but still has to keep the Sheldon Cooper vibe going from time to time, which feels out of place. And I don’t really see Indian Armitage as a young Sheldon. I think this is a good thing, and the „real Sheldon“ as narrator works great, too.
Excellent series especially the character Missy Cooper... her sarcasm kills me... intelligent, she's great.
I wish the episodes were longer, I just get I to it and it ends, either that or bring out more than 1 episode a week (like netflix)
Am I the only one who thinks Paige something dramatic will happen to Paige in the series? Despite her relationship with Sheldon, we never see her in Big Bang Theory. I hope there will be an explanation for this in the future.
It's really fallen off these past couple of seasons. Big yawn, dropped.
I love this show, so we’ll written, funny and wonderfully acted.
What a fantastic current spin off to a classic comedy series, Big Bang Theory, as this show follows the younger of the main and fan favorite character from The Big Bang Theory, in Sheldon Cooper. The cast is brilliantly portrayed and the show is everything that you would want it to be and more, as they actually have Jim Parsons (plays older Sheldon Cooper) narrate the show, which is a nice substitute for live audience laughs. Just as his family members were described by Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory they are portrayed that way. Its hilarious, quirky, heartfelt and uplifting.
My hell loop will involve a lot of this show on repeat as well as being force-fed beans and a nonstop playlist of country “music”.
just loved it, I´m a huge fan of TBBT and became also a fan of Young Sheldon, I can´t wait to see next chapters.
The show never ceases to entertain!
To be honest after two seasons I find I'm enjoying this show a lot more than TBBT. The original started strong, but very soon started deriving its humour from mocking the main characters, instead of from nerdy things. YS seems to have a much better handle on humour and character development.
This was a wonderful addition to THE BIG BANG universe. It answered the question, "What made Sheldon become Sheldon?" The young actor, Iain Armitage does a fantastic job of portraying the young quirky genius. And, he is surrounded with a talented supporting cast (if the Mom looks familiar, it is because she is the daughter of the actress who plays Sheldon's mother in BIG BANG). I thoroughly enjoy this series (as a fan of BIG BANG, I am use to the neurotic wit of Chuck Lorre). I give this series an 8 (great) out of 10. [SitCom]
right today is the Election Day in Israel and I happened to watch an episode about the elections for the presidency of a high school!
great show. beats all my expectations. love Annie Potts
I find this show a great example of dealing with different 'types' of children. The parents may have different approaches, beliefs and ideas but in the end the love all 3 of their children. Maybe they don't understand Sheldon but they always show up and make the best effort to do what the see right for him and his siblings. If you have kids this is a show for you. I love the casting and how it all ties up with the 'future' Sheldon at an age where he is really forming to an adult a lot faster than everyone around him. Even the extended cast with the teachers, neighbour kids do a great job with their roles. I really enjoyed Season 1, looking forward to Season 2.
why don't you people just learn to love your damn selves
This will get canceled like half the season, very boring

Started out cute but got less interesting with each season. Now I tune in every once in a while to see how stupid it's gotten since the last time I watched it and am never disappointed because it just as bad as expected.
