• This includes African/black people descended from Canada and the United States. I can't in good conscience include the rest of the Americas since like 90% of this list includes US citizens.

• In an attempt to sort my ethnicity/race lists better, I've created separate lists for African-Canadians/USians, Afro-Caribbean people, and indigenous/minority African people, all listed below.

• I know that Africans have a complicated history, especially when it comes to genealogy/heritage, but hopefully this decision is more helpful than having a catch-all list for everybody. Let me know if I've made any mistakes!

Excludes Latinos who have their own list, unless they also have (confirmed) non-Amerindian/Latin descent. Regarding mixed race actors: If, for example, "Barack Obama" (somebody with a black father and a white mother who passes as black) is playing a black character with black parents, I'm not going to categorize his character as a mixed character because it seems pretty shitty to imply that a mixed race actor can only play mixed race characters. If a character's race can't be identified, I have an "ambiguously brown" list for that. I'm always open to recommendations! • American as in "People of the Americas" not just people of the USA. Includes First Nations, Inuits, other Native Americans/Amerindians (such as Cherokees, Mayans, and Quechua), and Indigenous Caribbean people.

• Excludes "majority" Latinos, who have their own list, and Rapa Nui, who are Polynesian. Not sure where I'd stick people like Trinidadians, honestly.
