Tugged my emotional string. Wanted a good rebound after watching 'Crazy Ex Girlfriend'. Filled the holes much better than I expected. Really wish for a second season!
It will be hard to create more amazing season. It is completed story as for me.

After watching two seasons (at the moment not sure there will be more) I can say I like the show, I like the idea, I like the characters, and most of the songs but man I can’t stand Zoey. She is so annoying that it’s unbelievable. Every second she acts like an entitled spoiled brat. Her voice is annoying beyond any tolerable limit and she makes these weird faces all the time are cringe as well…
The more I watch this show the more I’m convinced that Zoey is a text book example of white privilege. She’s got everything at a young age but all she does is whine & bitch about how horrible her life is while all the supporting characters have a far worst life than her.
I like the show from the musical and choreography point of view but I can’t say I’m a fan of the story. I don’t like Zoey.
I understand why this show is on a lot of people's top TV shows of 2020. This incredible cast did an amazing job with their performances and acting. I loved every episode and song.
I absolutely love this show, look forward to it every week and watch them repeatedly on Hulu. Reminds me of Glee. Definitely a feel-good show needed during this time.
This is one that I am REALLY disappointed got dropped (fingers crossed for a Peacock revival)! It is such an easy watch, great music, nice story. It is very easy to get invested in the characters. I think this show could be much bigger given the right time slot and advertisement! Let's hope someone in power feels the same way!

Recommendation: At Least Give it a Whirl (For Musical Show Fans)
Generally, I don't like musicals. I only watched this, at first, because Jane Levy (Suburgatory) was the lead. After a few episodes, however, I was hooked by the good-natured silliness and the emotionally moving subplots. It helps that the musical numbers are usually old favourites and not a one is from an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. The casting is excellent, particularly veteran Mary Steenburgen and Glee's Alex Newell who plays Zoey's wildly ebullient transvestite neighbour with whom Zoey quickly becomes BFF. There are tearjerkers, for sure, but there are also a lot of LOL moments, many during the choreographed scenes.
Most of us have wished, at one time or another (usually while wearing a walkman/mp3 player), that our lives had a soundtrack. Zoey takes it a step further and adds backup dancers.
[Initial Impression]. I think I'm really going to enjoy this series. It is a feel good show. It is one of the new mid-season replacements, with a quirky fantasy premise that musical theatre people are going to love. The cast is a great mix of established talent (Mary Steenburgen, Lauren Graham) and great young talent. Jane Levy shines and perfectly creates a fully articulated, emotionally varied, Zoey. Although this is on the NBC lineup, it is filmed in Canada:flag_ca:, therefore, is filled with Canadian support talent:flag_ca:. The music is great, performances are great and the premise is fresh and hopeful. Based on the first episode, I rate this series, you guessed it, an 8, (great) out of 10. [Fantasy Drama]
So, 4 episodes in and my impression of the show is great. I really like the music selection and in combination with the rest of the show it sometimes really tugs on your heartstrings.
Edit: So I finished the season and the quality keeps up through the whole season. Would love to see a second season.
Season 1 was amazing with great song choices & story. Season 2 is weak. They should’ve left this show as a 1 season show.

Very good show, loved every minute of it, also renewed for another season, looking forward to it.
Really hoping this show takes off and delivers everything it wants, this was a great season and now I want more
4 episodes in and while it seems to be a fun an interesting take I don’t really feel the characters. I can’t say exactly why but I just don’t feel them.

Love it!! I needed a musical show to watch and this is it! Bring tissues, cause the pilot episode gets emotional at times, cause the acting is so damn good.
