I watched this movie with no idea of its plot or genre and I am shocked. It is a soft, simple but overly powerful film. The film shows you what a home really is and the weight of family ties. The script is brilliant. The performances left me speechless, especially Alan Kim. The casting to find that kind of talent and framing in the characters was perfect. My favorite A24 film so far.
Certain chapters had a very slow and redundant plot, I went a bit out of the movie with them. The performances were very typical of the time. Many locations and changes of scenery, an elaborate production. The story was captivating and clear.
*Stunning Director and writer Bong Joon-ho did an excellent work driving the times of the movie. Every transisson is more dramatic than the other without especting. Perfect work. Also, the main idea the film wants to transmist kept really deep inside of me in a rude way. This movie totally did it! Palme d'or at Cannes totally deserve!
I liked it in general. As someone said before, the movie takes strength when it comes out of the privacy of the house. The correlation of the characters with remarkable events from the early 70's was excellent. However, there are decontextualized scenes that took me out of the movie, for example, the scene of the astronauts. The director is very talented and the whole edition was amazing. I was not very much in love with black and white but it left me speechless.
Subtle and beautiful. John Cho acting was great but I'm not in love with the performance of Haley Lu R. Everything else it's well done.
Magnificent duo! Ellen Page and Allison Janney did and excelent job working together again. This movie could be the best netflix original by faaaaar. Director goes to the decisions made and their consequences in a way you finish feeling emphaty with the characters. 10/10 production, history and acting.
Good movie with a excelent combination of comedy with agro. I really enjoyed watch it but I feel something is missing. Deserving a price in Sundance is cuestionable.
A 10! Despite having many cliches in the plot everything is carefully endorsed to result in something spectacular. During several scenes I had the feeling of being a reflection of Lady Bird more than anything when she made bad decisions. The movie left me shocked because it really created a bond with my younger self. I enjoyed connecting with the movie and I totally recommend it as others that have left their mark on me.
I knew it with Cassie and Izzie from the first time.
Most of times Im aware of this kind of comedy/dramas because touch sensitive topics that I dont like at all. But, they go into characters and ideas in a easy way to watch with out beign nasty so I really really recomend this.
I'll be fair because it kept me focused on the history. Tons of cliche characters (knowing is hard create another ones for this type of shows) But it was short enough to be entretained.
Very entertaining. A comedy classic. :)
Some smart ideas but others not so strong to keep people engage. Started slow and in the mid/last part I think writers forced everything. A 6 just to be fair with production.
A really good idea and a brilliant ending with that incredible cast I dont know why the movie was underrated.
They could develop other characters but they didnt. There is no other conflict than Alice's illness and finally everything becomes very monotonous and predictable.
A really good idea for the time the movie was made and a brilliant interpretation for Nicolas Cage but that's all to me.
A complete masterpiece. This is one of the movies that make me think about life. I am surprised how they took subjects like sexuality, success, happiness, paternalism, etc. in the characters and correlated them in a single carefully directed plot. The films that I like the most are those that achieve some impact on me and this definitely made it.
I loved it. They took special care in the development of the characters. It reminded me tenacity but also fragility in women. I did not want it to end.
