Lançado em 3 de novembro de 2015, o Globoplay é a plataforma digital de streaming de vídeos sob demanda, desenvolvida e operada pelo Grupo Globo.

O serviço oferece produções originais e exclusivas em parceria com os canais da Globo, produtoras internacionais e produtoras independentes, seja em filmes, séries, programas de TV ou podcasts. Tem como principal braço de produção de originais, os Estúdios Globo, a Globo Filmes, a Direção Geral de Jornalismo e divisões de conteúdos da empresa Globo. (Fonte: Wikipedia)

Desde seu lançamento, o Globoplay disponibilizava as novelas exibidas pela TV aberta após 2009, inclusive as reprisadas na faixa Vale a Pena Ver de Novo, mas em qualidade de imagem inferior e sem as vinhetas de intervalos comerciais.

Em maio de 2020, o Globoplay lançou o Projeto Resgate de clássicos do acervo da TV Globo, com a inclusão de novelas, minisséries e temporadas de Malhação anteriores a 2010. O primeiro título foi A Favorita.

Também passou a liberar novelas que já constavam na plataforma (a partir de 2010, inclusive aquelas que haviam sido exibidas no Vale a Pena Ver de Novo), mas que estavam editadas e em qualidade inferior.

Em fevereiro de 2023, o Globoplay lançou o Projeto Originalidade, que substitui aos poucos as novelas a partir de 2010 que estavam na plataforma com qualidade inferior e sem vinhetas de intervalos. A primeira foi Amor Eterno Amor.

Ao mergulhar no acervo da Globo, a pesquisa revelou que muitas obras estão incompletas, com poucos capítulos preservados. E para não privar o público de ter novo contato com esses títulos, eles serão publicados na plataforma. São 28 folhetins das décadas de 1970 e 1980, com até 20 episódios preservados, e que serão disponibilizados para os assinantes.

Na primeira leva serão exibidas as novelas O Rebu (1974), Coração Alado (1980), Estúpido Cupido (1976) e Chega Mais (1980). A previsão da plataforma é exibir os quatro títulos em janeiro de 2024 e, na sequência, um título por mês até o fim de 2025.

Semanalmente, um novo título é lançado. Por mês, são três títulos no Projeto Resgate (sendo um deles uma minissérie), um no Projeto Originalidade e um no Projeto Fragmentos.
