First 7 episodes were great, then for some reason they just pushed the "real rob" character into a total douche bagalow. He's overly concerned about being treated like a rich bastard and fooling his wife into believing he's got everything together, the new conceded character they develop is REALLY difficult to watch. I told friends and family to watch this, but once I got to the 2nd season I felt like the character was ruined. Too bad if this is how the real Rob Schider is in real life. I don't know maybe the network said this was the only way Rob would get a paycheck, it was "act like a douche or you will never work in this town again!" Both Rob and especially Patricia are very talented and not-stupid people, they shouldn't have agreed to develop the character in this direction. Jaime deserves a lot of credit for tolerating Rob and being his Costello to Rob's "Abbot." I couldn't get through season 2. Honestly, the way he acts in Season 2 makes you wish Patricia just divorced him - in real life - !!!
Mostly decent Jason Statham style fight choreography and parkour. Dolph Lundgren does a really good job acting and fighting. The supporting cast are very B-movie style acting (bland) and the lip movements don't always match the dialog, but it's not a "bad" movie, just low-budget.
I thought it was a great movie, some other a-hole said this was a bad immitation of Bond, Bourne and MI, but this is the best action movie in the last 3 years. Chris Evans character makes you really hate him, Ryan Gosling does a really great job doing action scenes as he seems more well known for romance movies. There's a lot of great chase scenes, and hand-to-hand fighting. There is a little over-kill on the amount of artillery used, most of the countries that the scenes take place in don't have the artillery used by the "bad guys." There's also a good story behind the movie, the way that the CIA works as a shadow government program but that there are some good people that work there in order to balance the agency out. I would highly recommend this film.
Didn't like it. Makes this issue appear less compassionate toward parents of trans kids.
You can find this on Crackle. Shatner makes it interesting as the narrator. The producers ask good questions in interviews and explore some of the more fringe topics in paranormal/ufo/cryptozoology fields. It's only a few episodes on various topics. So it's a good thing to binge-watch if you have time to kill.
This is mistakenly listed as a "movie" on trakt when it's actually a tv series. I think it only lasted 1-season probably because Jeri Ryan had other projects she was interested in. It's interesting that this was not even on Jeri Ryan's filmography! It's not bad and tries to be unbiased in its investigation of the UFO/Alien topic. You can find this on Crackle.
First one was great and downhill after that. Seemed to drag on too long especially the 3rd movie.
sadly it is full of dumb decisions after dumb decisions. If you like that kind of movie then this is for you. I felt like it was wasting my time so I only watched half of it. You gotta have at least one character you can identify with, and you can't identify with him because he's such a total idiot.
The fight scenes are good, but would be a lot better if we cared more for the characters. In previous installments of all of the other Ip Man movies and spin offs, they always build characters based on Chinese virtues. This is usually contrasted with western virtues. I believe the producers of "Ip Man Universe" if you will, do this because of the contrast between traditional Chinese ways during Ip Man's life in Hong Kong vs the changes that took place after the revolution by the Maoists and the British rule in Hong Kong. However, America was never an enemy of the Chinese residing in Hong Kong at this time. The thing I love about the Ip Man Universe is how they emphasize the virtues of Chinese culture.
The bias here in this film diminishes the quality of the story. When I say bias, I mean the blatant catering to modern days "post-Obama" global politics. Every white person is apparently racist in San Francisco 1970s according to this movie. Immigration officers apparently have unlimited power of arrest and detention and the Marines are more concerned with beating up Chinese than they are about training recruits. Utter nonsense! The final battle in the movie based on American white people as the ultimate bad guys is preposterous. The globalist message of this movie should be an embarrassment to the film makers. Look at Hong Kong today! The people are being slaughtered because of the Chi-Coms as they hold up signs inspired by western democracy.
On the plus side, Donnie Yen is a master of portraying Ip Man as a kind-hearted virtuous hero. I believe Donnie Yen exemplifies this character better than any other actor. I would have liked to see a lot more character development regarding his son Ip Chun who is portrayed as a bitter young man who eventually realizes his father is dying and he seeks to bond with him. It is a good set up to Ip Man The Final Fight starring Anthony Wong. The minor involvement of the Bruce Lee character in the film is also not very well developed. The actor who played him was a decent look-a-like but there was hardly any involvement of the character in the climax scenes so it comes across as being a sort of "shiny object" that will attract viewers to the film. At this point in the Ip Man Universe there is no need to lure people into a theater to watch the film, Ip Man stands on his own. I think the biggest flaws in this iteration of the series is that it doesn't develop any supporting characters that we can care about. The closest they come to creating a character the audience can care about is the Chinese daughter of the CBA chairman. The actress did a very good job here of endearing us to her character as she bonds with Ip Man.
My final conclusion is that you should see the film but definitely watch other films in the Ip Man Universe as well, especially I recommend Ip Man: The Legend is Born. Which includes the real Ip Chun in a supporting role. But this is still a good martial arts movie for the fight choreography, but again they could have improved this by bringing back Sammo Hung as the choreographer, sadly this film doesn't measure up to the films that involved Sammo which were Ip Man 1 & 2 based on his earlier movies "The Prodigal Son" and "Warriors Two." Anyway, I sound really critical here but it is still a good movie please go see it because it is a very good Hong Kong style kung fu movie.
This was a great spin-off of the Ip Man series. After Tin-Chi performed in Ip Man 3 I thought he was a great character and amazing martial artist so this spin-off film is very good. For the first 2/3 of the move you will see a lot of fighting and character development so that by the end of the film, Tin-Chi is someone you really admire. Also just look at the cast of the film! Tony Jaa has a fight scene with Zhang Jin, and also there is a scene with Zhang Jin vs Dave Bautista that rivals the scene between Donnie Yen and Mike Tyson in Ip Man 3. Michelle Yeoh has a really good fight scene and of course she's a good actor. Also the actress who plays Julia (Liu Yan) wow! she's really gorgeous in this movie. Anyway, bottom line is I think this is one of the best martial arts movies centering around the wing chun style.
No reviews? well I honestly couldn't finish the movie it was soooo badly written.
I hated this movie from the cliche lesbian relationship to the lame bugs to the completely uneven sound control done on the movie editing room. Normal dialog is far too quiet, then screaming is suddenly so loud you could hear it 5 blocks away. Not really "horror" it's more of a gross-out movie. Produced by the people in Hollywood who use rape to groom female actors and then pretend that all men are guilty of rape when this behavior is prevalent among Hollywood and political elitists.
I thought this was one of the best Hellraiser movies in the franchise. Also I watched this on Netflix but trakt only shows this available on amazon.
"First episode" they choose aliens which is a wide topic with millions of witnesses, yet they choose a mechanic who fails his lie detector test???? Not impressive. Better they find an expert to interview who has talked to people who passed lie detector tests. Then find one of those guys. But the good thing about this show is that it has some credibility with Zach as the host and History Channel's budget. Hoping for some better episodes with some better screening before choosing what footage to air.
The movie has a comic book feel to it, so I'm guessing there was a graphic novel that this movie was based upon. If you like graphic novel type movies you'll probably give it a B-. If you don't like graphic novels or movies adapted from comics then you won't like the cliche style of this movie but stick it out until its done maybe it's better than you think. You might want a movie with better characters who seem more realistic. The bad guys are very cartoonish in costume and in personality. In real life the bad guys would be considered social retards by most standards. Mikkelson is a decent good guy yet a bit cliche because he doesn't know how to live a normal life due to living as an assassin since he was born. Then he meets some kind of shy out of place girl who helps bring out the human in him that was apparently repressed his whole life. So the story line is the same kind of thing you would find in most comic books. Action is "very" bloody, music is not great it's pretty limited if it was a sound track, you wouldn't want to own it. Acting is decent but it's kind of hard to care for the characters too much because everyone is a social misfit who doesn't function like normal people. There are a few really good actors, and one old guy that you will recognize a little more than half way through the movie who used to be very good. His initials are R.D. and he plays a retired assassin which is pretty implausible but whatever. Stick with the movie til the end because the final 1/3 of the movie starts to get interesting after he meets R.D. Then a real unexpected twist at the end. Well actually this is based on a graphic novel from Dark Horse publications called, "Polar: came from the cold" by Victor Santos.
