Goblin: 1x06 Tomorrow

Best 2016 Kdrama so far, since W. The bromance between Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook should be the main reason to watch this show! Killer episode ending.

ARQ

Solid concept and pretty good for a low budget sci-fi film. I did wonder though, why not everyone who dies wakes up in the next loop with their memories intact? The revelation at the end sent chills down my spine. Just consider for a moment having relived the same part of a day for many more times than you thought you had, perhaps even thousands of times. And still, every single time you failed to win against Sonny and Torus. How hopeless would that make you feel? Netflix could have easily turned this into a mini-series, by delving more into the backstory in between the loops. By putting the emphasis on the endless looping instead, the characters and storyline remained rather two-dimensional and not as interesting as they could have been.

W

This series has kept me on the edge of my seat with every single episode. W starts off as any Kdrama would, with the promise of an entertaining love story and a pretty second female lead, funny situations sprinkled here and there, delivered in a sci-fi package. I was really curious to find out how long Oh Yeon Joo could keep the truth hidden from Kang Cheol, who the real murderer of his Kang Cheol's family could be and how this information would influence the comic's storyline and its protagonists' actions.
W turned out to be surprisingly original in its plot twists and solutions. I am glad to see the series veered off the standard Kdrama course the way it did (yet kept the romance sizzling, which I did not mind at all ;-) Oh Yeon Joo x Kang Cheol <3).

If you enjoyed The Truman Show and Dramaworld, I am sure you will love W.

Sweet Bean

Sweet Bean ("An") left me with two strong impressions: an appreciation of the subtle critique on discrimination against leprosy sufferers and a craving for dorayaki. I'll never look at a can of sweet beans the same way again.
