The Awakening

The film benefits enormously from having the luminous Rebecca Hall as its lead. It also gains an ominous gravity from the haunted, wounded and wobbly England in which it's set.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

The most visually spectacular, action-packed and surreal of the adventures of Capt. Jack Sparrow.

Machete Kills

Machete Kills dulls more than anything. It's not that Robert Rodriguez's sequel lacks any of the camp or exploitative violence of the 2010 original. The mayhem has just become boring.

Rambo

Rambo teaches that fighting sucks, good intentions can be futile, and coalitions of the willing are a charade: A man's got to do what a man's got to do.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Some genuine shocks punctuate The Exorcism of Emily Rose, an unusually intelligent genre item that manages to mix full-bore horror with courtroom drama.

2 Guns

Director Baltasar Komakur does an excellent job with the cast and the storyline, and makes the viewer interested in what is going to happen next. Great thing about this movie is it can possibly be happening every day. Our government agencies overlap all the time and they don't talk between each other. This is a great movie to go and see.
