First time ever watching this movie and it most certainly surprised me. Not only was the animation fantastic (especially the fight scenes) but the violence and dialouge caught me off-guard, especially with Lex Luthor
This is it. This is the Sonic movie I've been waiting for. We finally get to see a nice sized cast of Sonic characters with this entry and it's honestly a dream come true. Having watched this movie twice and back to back from the second movie, my takeaways are:
●Better action
●Better comedy
●Better references
Sonic 3 is some really solid fun and Jim Carrey's Eggman just keeps getting better and better! I can't wait to see what's in store for this franchise.
Honestly, from a music standpoint, this movie gets an extra point from me. I've always head about how great 8 Mile was but to finally be able to watch it.... just wow
I wish I knew about this movie earlier it is HILARIOUS :rofl:
Action choreography was incredible and really enjoyed the BTS!
The tl;dr is that this movie isn't bad, but also isn't great either. I say stream it instead of watching it at a theater.
This movie, while impressive for its visuals and acting, has no reason to exist. I'm coming fresh off the heels of seeing the first movie for the first time recently, and with that in mind, It definitely feels like this movie was nothing but your typical Hollywood cash-grab/nostalgia bait.
Let's start with the pros. This movie has an interesting enough plot, one of some good old Roman subterfuge. I also did like the main character (until about halfway through the movie). Lastly, the fighting scenes were on a bigger and were pretty entertaining to watch.
There are a lot of cons to this movie. There was one glaring issue I had with the plot which was that somehow, after all of the events of the movie, there was still 16 years of corruption in Rome. There was zero explanation as to why there was still conflict in the politics, especially after how the first movie ended, which brings me to another problem with the movie. The first Gladiator had a definitive ending with no room for a sequel. Gladiator 2 had created a conflict from nothing with no context to back up the plot.
This movie suffers from something that a lot of modern movies have these days, and that's a lot of cuts and quick story progression. One thing I loved about the first Gladiator movie was that the scenes were long. Every scene gave the characters time to breath and really speak to one another, as well as travel to destinations important for the story to progress. In Gladiator 2's case, there were a lot of scenes and cuts to the next story beat. While this form of movie editing isn't terrible, it did hurt my enjoyment because unlike the first Gladiator, our main character Hanno has no interaction with his fellow gladiators. This decision leads to a sense of fake, unearned loyalty from his cell mates when the story calls for them all to band together.
Lastly, I was initially a big fan of Hanno's character as it was an interesting way to create a sequel that has ties to the characters of the first Gladiator. Unfortunately, Hollywood did the Hollywood sequel thing and by the second half of the movie my interest was shattered. It feels like they assassinated Maximus's character by revealing that Hanno was the son of Maximus. This directly opposes Maximus's image as a man of honor. He already had a wife and son so its very unbelievable for that type of character to have had a son with someone who wasn't his wife. At least that was my interpretation when I watched the first Gladiator
Would I say that this is a bad movie? No. But it also isn't great either. A lot of questions kept me from really enjoying the plot but if anything, I at least thought that it, as well as the acting, was entertaining enough.
They definitely don't make movies like this anymore. A nice, simple, and engaging story that respects your time with constant story and character progression while also ending appropriately after such a long run time!
I don't watch too many horror movies since I scare easy, so I was pleasantly surprised to have this movie be more thriller than horror. Hugh Grant was definitely the spotlight of this movie. His performance was entertaining, and the writing was definitely serviceable. I can confidently say that I enjoyed my time with this.
I'm so glad I got to experience this movie in theaters after I missed the initial release thanks to the 70th Godzilla anniversary reissue.
This movie's portrayal of Godzilla is absolutely menacing. The sheer size of him is intimidating, you can feel every footstep through your ears. And that heat ray is extremely cool. I love Takashi Yamazaki's vision for Godzilla, you can see all of the battle scars that this creature sustains over years of gunfire and explosions. It almost makes it seem like the more damage that Godzilla sustains, the more he grows due to the nature of his regeneration being scales that grow and seemingly overlap with itself.
On the human side of the movie, we get a powerful performance by all of the actors. These characters are interesting and easy to get invested in, the story that gets told through them is nothing short of inspiring to watch. The soundtrack of the movie was, of course, incredible. It matches both Godzilla's destructive glory and the human fight for survival perfectly.
Being that this was a reissue that I watched, there was a BTS of how they pulled off the VFX, as well as a Q&A with the film and VFX director, which gave me an even greater appreciation of how the final product turned out. I highly recommend checking those videos out after watching this movie, it's truly impressive how they pulled the visuals off with the equipment they had.
TL;DR: Don't watch if you didn't like Venom 2
Sony is not beating the bad marvel movie allegations with this one. Don't even get me started on how the movie ends.... It legitimately stun-locked me. If you liked Venom 2 (which I for sure didn't) then this one is fine. If not, literally don't bother.
The biggest sin this movie commits is how boring it is. Exposition is just told to the audience, resulting in long scenes where you have to sit there and just watch these people stand around and talk. Story progression is basically non-existent, Eddie just walks around and the story falls on his lap.
The cherry on top is how Sony used Knull , or rather didn't use him. A charcater who commands such a powerful threat to all of existence was not necessary in this movie at all if all he's going to do show up for like 5 minutes total out of the whole hour and a half runtime. He wasn't even set up properly for future movies.... man my head hurts.
Overall wasn't a bad show. Acting wasn't bad and the plot is interesting enough, though it does fall a little flat in some areas, it helps that all of the episodes can be watched in under an hour. I'll definitely need to check out the podcast that this is based off on to get a better understanding of the story or see if it was presented better in that format.
I really hope that this project is successful, there is so much potential in not only future Markiplier projects but also in more QCODE adapted content!
Transformer One is nothing short of amazing, enchanting even. I'm not kidding when I say that this movie was so good that I was memserized, and I barely qualify as a Transformers fan! This movie succeeds where many, MANY other movie have failed this past year. The storytelling done in this movie checks near every box on what makes a story good: intriguing (and somewhat amusing) exposition, clear character motivation, absolutely steller character growth, great acting, and compelling world-building, to name a few. I'm extremely tempted to call this the "Spider-verse" of Transformers, but I think I'm getting ahead of myself. What I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, is that this movie does NOT deserve the 5 that IGN gave it. Shame on them but also not surprising.
This movie is aggressively average. The only reason why I even bothered watching it was because the cast intrigued me from watching the trailer, but that curiosity was immediately killed after 30 minutes. Casey Affleck's character is the only one I liked, his sparse comedy kept me from stopping the movie entirely.
Had the awesome opportunity to watch this movie in 3D at a theater, I absolutely loved it! It had been YEARS since I last saw this film so I was very pleased to rediscover the awesomeness that is Coraline. The cool animation coupled with the eerie tone of the story make for a fantastically horrifying combination. As someone who is terrified of watching actual horror movies, I'm glad there are films like this that fit the bill without making your soul leave your body :joy:
All of the set-pieces carry this movie HARD, and it doesn't help that they were all shown in the trailers. It's cool seeing the initial response to the alien invasion but outside of that there is nothing to see here.
Being better than the third + high tier brainrot = a good movie to waste time on.
Ryan Reynolds has done it again. He has pulled his magic to drag Hugh Jackman out of retirement to create a fantastic film that finally gives the people what they want: A Deadpool and Wolverine team-up (with the added gift of comic-accurate costumes!). Fans of not only Deadpool but the film history of Marvel are going to be blessed 100%. The wait has not disappointed and I'm so glad that the first Rated R MCU movie was such a huge hit. Let's hope that Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have learned their lesson and carry this momentum forward into Captain America: Brave New World.
"If you feel it, CHASE IT!"
It's been a while since I've seen a natural disaster movie and what an experience it was! This movie does a fantastic job at capturing the risks involved in chasing tornadoes, as well as the dangerous aftermath they leave behind. Just watching these characters do the things they do left me at the edge of my seat. Definitely one of my favorite movies to come out this year for sure!
This movie was a way more enjoyable experience than Haikyuu: The Dumpster Battle. If does a fantastic job at keeping a pace that's fast enough to stay hyped for all of the matches while also staying slow enough to build up the the relationship between Nagi and Reo as two strangers who would later form a strong bond as an inseparable duo. I also really liked how you didn't need to read the manga or have watched the series in order to fully enjoy this film, allthough it was pretty goofy that the final 5 minutes or so was a slide show of straight spoilers for a large chunk of the story past the 3v3 rival battles. I haven't read the manga for a while so this movie did make me excited to catch back up with the series!
This movie left a huge impression on me. I was very pleased to discover that this movie was more enjoyable to watch than the first one, and I loved the first one! Inside Out 2 is what I feel to be a rare case in animation where everything was improved for the sequel: Cast, Story, Soundtrack, even the animation, which was definitely a highlight of this film in that it creatively intertwined multiple different styles similar to that of Spider-verse. 10/10, absolutely fantastic movie. I hope Pixar can keep this momentum up.
Haikyuu is my all-time favorite anime. Getting to experience the thrill of the court in a movie theater was fantastic! The sound of all the serves, recieves, and spikes were elevated to another level. My only complaint is that I wish this part of the series had more than just the runtime of this movie. For what is supposed to be the most anticipated match-up of the series 5 seasons in the making, it felt really short. Aside from that that though, I really enjoyed myself! 9/10
It's so stupid to the point that it's hilarious
Aside from a certain scene in the 3rd episode, this show has been surprisingly really good!
Since this was my first Mad Max movie, I didn't know what to expect. I wasn't really hooked in the first 30-45 minutes of the film, but as it went on, it became more interesting. What really stood out to me was the way they portrayed Chris Hemsworth's character as someone who has mastered the law of the wasteland. He is a threat to be feared even when he's off-screen, which is an aspect of character writing that I really appreciate. I also wasn't expecting this movie to be so goofy. It's hilarious seeing the thought process of these characters being executed while riding on top of some of the most metal vehicles I have ever seen.
TL;DR: This is the type of movie that gets better the more you watch it. I really liked this movie, and after seeing it, it makes me want to finally watch Fury Road after all these years. 8/10. Great movie. Cheers :cocktail:
It's a very good movie for it's target audience of primarily young children. Even though I myself fall slightly out of said audience, I still very much enjoyed this movie. A huge highlight of the film are all the imaginary friends. All of them are extremely likable and hilarious to see. The first quarter of the movie is slow and uninteresting, but all of the setup really pays off. All in all, this is a very charming movie that definitely warms the heart!
It was a very cool movie to watch both for the sleek animation and awesome cyberpunk esthetics. I watched the English dub in theaters and the voice acting was top notch! I'm kind of sad that not many people are coming to watch it but the same time it is competing with some heavy hitters as of May 7, 2024. All in all, I'm very happy that I got to see this great movie!
Smiled and laughed throughout the whole thing! It's nice to see a movie that feels genuine again :relaxed:
I can say without a doubt that this. is. Fallout. Smiled throughout the entire episode, I can't wait for more!
This was a very uninspired movie, it followed the same tired formula as other Disney movies and did nothing to innovate itself. Some of the songs were pretty good, although the hook for the main song always sounded wrong to me. I will say, however, that there were three things I really liked:
1.) The star was admittedly cute
2.) Chris Pine's singing was amazing
3.) Gabo, the only funny character
First half of the movie was honestly a snooze fest. The comedy didn't land at all, and you can thank all the trailers for that, but I was surprisingly impressed with the remainder of the film. It got a few chuckles out of me and I did like the progression of Coach Rongen, so all in all it was a decent movie.
That being said I hated the intro, it reminded me way too much of Thor: Love and Thunder and I despise that movie with a passion.
It's nice to watch something so lighthearted once in a while. Very cute and funny movie, I liked it!
