Pete the Cat: Season 2

The second half of the season is adorable, with at least a couple of standout episodes. My daughter is crazy for the sci-fi one.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: Season 1

Great cast, very smart writing, funny as hell, full of inventions, constantly surprising and with Vella Lovell. What more do you want?

Hilda: Season 2

Having finished adapting the books, the series goes on without missing a beat and adding a bit more horizontal storytelling. All the great things from season one are still here and it remains a lovely watch, full of inventions and with the right amount of spookiness. The variation in episodes length works surprisingly and there's at least four standout episodes that are worth the watch. But the season as a whole is really good.

The Mandalorian: Season 2

A solid second season, with a couple of standout episodes (the one directed by Robert Rodriguez is amazing) and a very strong ending.

Upload: Season 1

What a lovely show! Great cast, fun and smart writing, interesting themes and an entertaining mystery.

Spiral: Season 1

Jeez this feels old. I can see the potential for it to become as good as I read it will, but the first season feels cheap, with corny dialogues and clumsily directed. Plus, being a horror fan I like the gore element but it feels a bit forced. Still, I enjoyed it and I still to continue.

The immediate rewatch is making me appreciate much more the character development, how later seasons pick up on stuff that was laid down here and already in the first season. The tale of Donna and Cameron and how they basically start acting like Joe when they realize their ambition, the depth of desperation in which Joe is falling, the pit from which Gordon is gonna have to crawl out...

Plus, honestly, this is such a lovely watch, of course when it's entertaining and fun, but also when it gets really sad, because it's so nice to be with such well written characters. What a show. I'm gonna miss it, when we finish this rewatch.

Halt and Catch Fire: Season 1

As an immediat re-watch it feels so much better. The weaker moments are still there but you can see all the basis from the character growth that will come in later seasons and it's fascinating to watch all the little things that the authors then built on. It feels very organic, in a way. Episode 6 is amazing in that sense. I'm also amazed at how much it manages to be emotional, thrilling, interesting, even if by know I kinda know every single thing that's coming. Great show. And it's the weaker season!

The Boys: Season 2

This season felt like they were more confident on everything: fun, violence, satire, drama, superhero stuff, crazy over the top set pieces. And the ending is great.

DC Super Hero Girls: Season 1

I watched this with my (almost) 5 years old and we had to stop after episode 26 because that's what we've got on Netflix. It's a lovely show, funny, visually cool, sometimes it really makes me laugh and my daughter loves it. She already was a huge fan of Wonder Woman but now also loves Supergirl.

Oh, and it's full of nice homages to DC comics, clearly put there for the geeky parent, which I guess is a plus.

I already loved the show but this season floored me. It's amazing from the first episode to the last one, it capitalizes so well on all the work done on characters and relationships, it's so good in showing (with writing, acting, directing) how much they all mean to each other, all the history they have. It's amazing to see how far they all have gone, how they developed, how real they feel. Episodes 7 and 8 blew me away: I expected it but I still was a mess, I was so amazed at how they were put together and they stayed with me (plus 8 reminded me of The Body from Buffy). 9 and 10 were an amazing finale, perfect in every moment, and they left everything and everybody in a lovely place. It's melancholic and sour but also uplifting and calming, in a way. This was an incredible show, it's up there with the best stuff I've ever watched and after a few days I can't stop thinking about it. Wow.

Halt and Catch Fire: Season 3

The amazing chemistry between cast members, the lovely writing, the humour, the tension, it's amazing.

Halt and Catch Fire: Season 2

Even on a rewatch that made me appreciate season 1 more, the upgrade on season 2 is palpable. After a couple of episodes to start the engines, it becomes amazing.

It's amazing how good and gripping it is even on a rewatch. And it's the weaker season!

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 7

A lovely final season, with a nice ending, some touching moments, and, as per usual, a couple of outstanding episodes. Plus, I appreciated the return of Kevin Tancharoen for the series finale: his action scenes have always been some of the best stuff this show had to offer and he didn't disappoint here. I also appreciate that they acknowledged how silly all these fake deaths have been and they joked about it but still, they've been doing it for too long and it stole all the feeling of danger and tension from the whole show. Still, it was fun.

Alwasy consistent and basically irresistible.

Chip and Potato: Season 1

This is cute, lovely, fun, cute, full of nice teaching but most of all incredibly cute.

Rabbids Invasion: Season 1

Honestly, this is boring as hell and even my daughter doesn't want to watch it.

Masha and the Bear: Season 2

I'm not sure how the season progression actually works because the order on Netflix is messed up but this gets better and better.

Masha and the Bear: Season 1

Funny, bizarre, full of crazy ideas, a good mix of slapstick gags for kids and idiotic humour for parents. Adorable.

Tumble Leaf: Season 3

Even better than season 2: more experimentation, more narration, more crazy ideas, a bit of continuity and some really moving moments.

Tumble Leaf: Season 2

With season 2 they start messing around and experimenting with narration and visual style. Now it's really good. I was even moved a couple of times.

T'choupi à l'école: Season 1

A lovely show for pre-schoolers, with very simple lessons mostly around the theme of "be nice to each other". Nice art style.

Simon: Season 1

This is a lovely show, funny, smart and with a nice art style. The opening theme has been singed many times in our house and we still sing Simon's improvisation at the guitar (Caca boudin, super lapin, bébé cadum, la tarte aux pommes). <3

Pete the Cat: Season 2

It's still consistently quite good, with a nice evolution in the art style, a bit more ambition in terms of visual ideas and a very emotional peak in the Parents' Day Surprise episode. Overall, it's lovely.

Gangs of London: Season 1

The first five episodes are out of this world and they constantly get better. The last four are still very, very good but they pay the price of having to do so much work to properly end a really complex story.

Dummy: Season 1

This is a fun show. I honestly don't know what else I could say about it.

The Mandalorian: Season 1

Very well made, precise, with a clear direction, a solid production, a lovely soundtrack and a great cast. This is everything The Rise of Skywalker wasn't. Plus, when it works, it's kinda great: the last three episodes are quite good and I would argue that if you put together the last two episodes they form one of the best Star Wars movies. That being said, at the same time, I found it a bit too much "by the book" and while I love the cinephile approach, it kinda feels like every single good scene is a homage to some movie and after a while it's too much. Great music.

True Detective: Season 3

A solid season. I particularly loved the acting and the fact that in the end the mystery was just an excuse to talk about family and friendship. What a pity that Jeremy Saulnier didn't direct all the episodes, though.

iZombie: Season 5
