Raised by Wolves

Sadly this is another show that will be pirated due to stupid marketing decisions making it US only through HBO Max. As with other shows that are exclusive to one market it need serious funding (like the Mandalorian) or it will simply just fade away due to lack on viewers.

I will sadly not see this one until it becomes available on Netflix or regular HBO, and then it will probably not even show up on my radar anymore as the marketing buzz will have faded long before that. To bad, it seemed to be a decent series.

Cursed: Season 1

A pretty different show that take a very different take on the Arthurian saga. It's not a mega budget movie, but it works pretty well. The charcters start a bit slow, but evolve over the cause of the series. I found myself trying to figure out who was going to turn out to be a familiar name as some characters start out openly like Gawain, but others come as a bit of a surprise later on.

If you expect another sword in the stone type of series fllowing the same old story, then you will be disappointed. This is a different saga with all the familiar names, but very different from the traditional tales.

BLAME!

A nice story that remind me a bit of the Matrix series. Would like to see this one expanded into a series as it has potential for a ptetty nice story arc.

Damsel

A pretty good fantasy movie that is executed very well by the cast. Script wise it might be a bit thin at times, but then again most fantasy movies have the same problem. It has a good mix of action and conversations, with some interesting surprises here and there. Not the best CGI at times, but absolutely watchable.

Millie can stretch her acting skills a bit, and she jumps effortlessly between being soft and vulnerable and kicking ass. Brooke is also playing quite well, while the rest of the cast are a bit two-dimensional, even if that is because their characters don't get that much screen time. Shohreh bring the dragon to life, and she balances nicely between the terrifying and the likeable.

The story is familiar, but yet feels fresh since it has a different angle in many ways.

I think it is well worth watching.

Heart of Stone

This feels more like James Bond than James Bond has felt in the last decade.
It opens strong and fades a bit towards the end. There are some stupid bits and there are some silly bits, but overall a nice action movie.

Vampire Academy

I almost overlooked this series as it the pilot feels very much like a glossy teenage vampire series, but once you get into it a bit you start to see the underlying themes of mystery and plotting. I will confess that the politics is a bit shallow and some of the character dynamics and society depiction could use some depth, but it is not terrible.

The main characters are quite good, and the story have a good mix of character gray scales rather than black and white which is nice. For me the appeal however was in the pursuit of the main characters mystery pursuit and to some extent motifs of the main antagonist.

I am glad I stuck with this series and it is a shame it was not renewed.

It had potential and was entertaining.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
Snowflake Mountain: Season 1

I thought this would just be another reality show bashing the spoiled snowflakes of the show, but I was wrong. This is a wonderful show of transformation and growth of the participants that really resonated with me. The concept is old, but watching these people go from selfish babies more in tune with fashion and technology than people to loving and caring individuals that looked past each others quirks and form bonds of friendship was pretty amazing.

This made me feel hope for the world again, if only for a short time :)

Evil: 1x01 Genesis 1

The first episode of Evil did not really impress. It has potential, but it felt like a weak start of the series.

The characters have a foundation to build on for sure, but we did not get to explore that as much in the first episode. The story itself is a bit vague and it felt a bit rushed to be honest.

The acting is pretty good so it will be interesting to see what the next episode will hold.

I give this a solid 6 out of 10.

The Orville: 2x04 Nothing Left on Earth Excepting Fishes

Orville just graduated from a comedy series to a space drama. Star Trek in it's finest right there.

Boyka: Undisputed IV

While Scott Adkins perform his usual kick-ass in the ring this part of the Boyka series is lacking in story and the acting is suffering because of that. Good fighting scenes, but weak script in general.
