I can excuse historical innacuracies but I draw the line at Ludwig being straight
I don't know Italian so I just fast forwarded every part in which Queen Marie Sophie wasn't in because she was the sole reason for me to watch this since she is one of my favorite people from history and this is literally the only film in which she has a prominent role
I love how this movie has no plot, just vibes
Katherine Howard is the only character in this movie that deserves rights
Me, reading the reviews after enjoying this artsy messy sort-of-hero's quest: that was way harsh Tai
Catherine and Peter had more chemistry in that one scene in which he tongued her than Catherine and Leo had in all their scenes together combined
The source material wasn't good but they still somehow managed to make something EVEN WORSE. There is an alternative reality in which Natalie Portman was given a good script and she's one of the best Anne Boleyns, up there with Genevieve Bujold and Natalie Dormer, but sadly in this reality she was given... this. Truly a pity.
Out of all reasons I thought I was going to dislike this movie, I never expected the main one would be just how BORING it is. Also f Thomas Seymour all my homies hate Thomas Seymour.
John Malkovich harrasses women for two hours with the help of Glenn Close. This is all part of their personal vendettas but it's also like a sexual thing between them. Keanu Reeves it's also dragged into this for no reason. Somehow this makes for a good movie, and I probably would have loved it if there weren't so many scenes of borderline to straight up sexual assault. Leaving that aside, I enjoyded this film, if only because it has one of the best costumes I've seen in a movie, and probably my favorite set in the 18th century. Don't think I'll rewatch it tho, but seeing all those beautiful historically accurate robes à la français for two hours was a delight.
Not to be dramatic but this is the most beautiful live action movie I've seen in my life. The romance was the weakest part for me, I wish there had been more screentime to develope it. Other than that I loved it.
It's been years since I saw the desk scene for the first time and to this day it lives rent free in my mind
I was enjoying a lot this one until they did that to Helene. Like I know this movies are not meant to be historically accurate but WHY would they have her being still in love with Franz Josef and misserable instead of happily married with a man she loved, you know LIKE THE ACTUAL HELENE?? Especially since they already introduced the Prince of Thurn und Taxis!!! And we saw they liked each other a lot!!!! This was a love match, and although saddly short it was a succesful marriage (something that none of her sisters could say). Having her confessing her undying love to FJ was a plot point that literally served no purpose whatsoever, it had no resolution, it's just there cause the writer hate Nené I guess. Also they did the same to Andrassy and it also had no purpose nor resolution. I just don't get it and it annoys me so much that it just spoiled the rest of the movie to me. Also we were ROBBED of Helene being a supportive sister and traveling to Corfu with Sisi, another thing the actual Helene did.
Many great songs, but the plot was an absolute mess (and it was mostly just about Louis' romantic life)
Writers: Give us CordeliaxConnor
Me: Thanks I hate it
They really did an episode that's just the characters being dumb and horny for twenty minutes straight and somehow it's the best episode of the year. THEIR MINDS.
I wanted to like this but most of the songs weren't my cup of tea, I found the character plain, and I got bored after an hour passed.
So that was something.
What a CRAZY episode!! I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. The fact that most characters knew that the world was ending and yet only like four actually went to the bunker was absolutely annoying.
I had consider that Elisabeth was Charlotte's mother but then I told myself "That's just straight up something that happened in Futurama, they wouldn't go so far". And guess what? They went so far. Fry being his own grandfather walked so Elisabeth being her own grandmother could run.
This episode pushed to the limit everything, and I was totally into it (even though the Elisabeth and Charlotte thing was borderline ridicule). And then Other World!Martha appeared and it just... kinda threw me off. Like I suspected that we were gonna enter in multiverse territory eventually, but honestly? I was hoping that we didn't enter into that at all. I was hopping that, as heartbreaking and pesimistic as it sounds, that the past couldn't be changed, that we are all chained by time. It would be very bitter, but it's not like the show promised us sweetness. It is, after all, called "Dark". This multiverse thing changes the core of the show, and although it has been hinted, I'm not really into it (and also, they really just gave the actress a basic wig and said "there! Alternative universe look done!" Like camon' guys you can do better). Anyway let's wait to see how they handle it.
(Also and I really hope that I'm wrong about this but I feel that either this or other world Martha isn't gonna be related to Jonas and this whole thing it's just so they can get together without it being weird).
Anyway loved the episode until the last seconds, Bad Wig!Martha and the world thingy that introduced just wasn't my cup of tea (not that I don't like multiverse stories but for once just give me a time traveling story in which the travelers can't change anything). Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to the final season, which I hope will be as good as it's predecessors.
If I time traveled to the past to prevent my father to commit suicide I simply wouldn't have given him a detailed description of how he was going to do it. RIP to Jonas but I'm different.
I have this thing which is that I love watching historical fiction but historical inaccuracy bothers me A LOT. So yeah watch me bitching about how x thing didn't happen or happened differently, but still keep watching nonetheless. It's a contradiction that I've come to accept, and it's the reason why I enjoyed a lot The White Queen, even though it is not very accurate.
This mini series it's fast paced and very entertaining . It's all drama, politics, a bit of war (with battles that DEFINETLY could have been better directed and choreographed) and tons of stuff that probably (and surely) didn't happen. Not perfect, nor a favorite of mine (to be honest I wasn't very hooked at the end), but if you like historical fiction for it's drama, setting and pretty dresses, then I think you might enjoy this one as I did (bitching about inaccuracy and all).
Lastly, I don't wanna sound like a history nerd, but if you liked the show and were left with curiosity, please consider checking out what actually happened, 'cause ultimately I don't mind historical changes if the final product it's enjoyable but I find worrisome that some people may end up taking a piece of fiction as actual facts.
I just know that that scene was someone's kink. Anyway I enjoyed the show even though it's not very historical accurate.
Ok but why did the woman just stand there while Angel fighted the demon, like she didn't even tried to stop him nor escape... it really bothered me lol
Also, Angel's singing was pretty okayish
I liked it but not a fan of the cliffhanger...
WELL THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY I'M-
I can't believe the amount of second hand embarrassment that I got from this episode
This episode ruined my life bye
This is the greatest episode to ever be made you can't change my mind
The people whining about the feminism in this show is the same people that says "it's just fiction everyone is over sensitive!!!!" whenever a show has problematic stuff.
OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!! SERIOUSLY I'M SHOCKED. This was GOOD. It's been a while since a Bone's episode was this good (it's been a while since a Bone's episode was good at all -not meaning that episodes became bad either, just "meh" or "that was ok. I even laugh a little once"). I'm looking forward the next season, and for the first time since I found out that it would be the last one, I feel kinda sad about it. I hope they give us the final season this series deserves.
