Free!: 2x12 A Swim-Off in a Foreign Land!

After all the times Haru inspired Rin to fall back in love with swimming, Rin was finally able to return the favour. This episode was beautiful and touching and this show is just so good.

The Crown: 6x10 Sleep, Dearie Sleep
Given

I am a mess rn... seriously the way love is portrayed in such a nuanced way with genuine character growth is so special to see. They did a great job on this.

The Fall of the House of Usher: 1x03 Murder in the Rue Morgue

this show wants what succession has.
the only scene i actually enjoyed was camille firing her assistants (despite that whole situation being extremely fucked up). otherwise i am struggling to care about any of these characters, esp when they blatantly don't care about one another. very weird.

Big Mouth: 7x02 Epididymitis

it's kind of crazy how this show makes me laugh out loud while human resources just lacks something.. maybe the humans they help aren't well developed enough? but anyway, this episode was hysterical and judd punching nick made my day.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Beautifully filmed, slow but impactful. The acting was excellent - Brad Pitt can be so scary, and Casey Affleck is so good at being creepy and an unsettling presence. Also really loved the score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

Great Freedom

This movie was funnier than I expected. The ending was funny too, but very tonally different. I thought it was a weird decision and didn't really fit with the rest of the movie. However, I enjoyed this movie a lot and found the lead performances to be excellent.

Captain Corelli's Mandolin

I watched this a few days after finishing the book and maybe that was a bad idea. But aside from the countless ways in which it deviated from it plot-wise (which is understandable since the book's timeline is not the most adaptable, I can imagine) I just could not get behind this film's casting.

The 3 main actors just lacked the chemistry and levity that give Pelagia, Dr Iannis and Corelli their unique dynamic. Penelope Cruz just played too seriously. Mandras was given WAY too much screen time and importance, but I guess they chose do this because they had Christian Bale on board. The significance of the character Carlo and his sacrifice is totally lost on the audience as we are given 0 time to get to know him or his backstory. The ending is whatever. I just feel like without all the elements and quirky characters that make the book magical, the movie just becomes a lacklustre piece of WWII content. I will say it was beautifully filmed and the locations looked incredible, it's just a pity. I would love to see another attempt that does the great book justice :')

Yellowjackets: 2x03 Digestif

I agree with all these comments, we just keep getting more mysterious hallucinations with no answers as to whether there is actual supernatural activity here or not. The end of S1 gave us no answers and the characters are generally unlikeable, and yet I'm still intrigued to keep watching. I enjoy adult Misty's scenes, as well as adult Shauna's.

But like, where is this all going???

Shameless: 11x07 Two at a Biker Bar, One in the Lake

The credits scene with Ian and Mickey yaaaassss!
Also this episode is definitely giving me old Shameless quality and it's such a relief to finally see. This show is at its best when they get all the siblings in the same room and they call each other out on their shit. And each of the Gallaghers are getting more believable storylines that actually allow us to be invested in now.

Spartacus

I was thoroughly enthralled by this show. The story was well written and carried out through all the seasons, the action was GREAT (I loved the 300-type style) and the characters were multifaceted and believable. Every episode is packed with events and you're truly never bored. I wish more people knew about this show - it's extremely underwatched.
