Unbelievable! The way they were able to find street parking outside the concert venue :sob:
Two episodes in and I find this compelling and better than the Chinese version (in terms of pacing). If you're a scifi fan looking for new ideas and concepts to expand your horizons then this is definitely right up your alley.
The opening sequence with the call center is the dumbest thing I've seen in a long time. The second dumbest thing I've seen in a long time was the beekeeper's detonation device rigged to explode by the next call while he was standing with the bomb. How did he survive this long with such stupid devices?
Edit: I spoke way too soon. It just keeps getting dumber every minute. It's one of those movies. I'll try to shut up and enjoy the ride.
Edit2: Now they're just killing innocent people, I guess the Beekeepers is a terrorist organization?
Totally underrated show it’s like a mix of Star Trek/stargate/Hercules. So much better than I thought it would be. It still holds up today.
Edit: this was before the season 2 debacle the cast shakeup makes me want to cry already. The chemistry and stories which were season 1 is GONE. I don't even know if I can keep watching. WHY OH WHY did they ruin the show
Pulled the Alien card rather early, did we? Unfortunately I don't know what to make of this. For starters we pull out all the cliches: the military guys seeing only danger while the scientist are open to what this may present. And pointing guns at a dolphin and arresting it for treason was rather ridicolous.
Then they burrow again from other shows. The whole Indian angle (X-files) and Lucas being the Wunderkind that sees things in a different way and is invited to go with the Aliens. (Wes Crusher and the Traveller).
The meeting felt extremly dull and cheesy. And like I said I don't know what to make of the story especially since for those on earth it actually didn't happen. Let's see how this developes.
My favorite animated comedy to date. If you don't like Futurama, you can bite my shiny metal ass.
Two of the worst things combined: cops and media about talking dogs. Feeding children pro-state propaganda while they’re in diapers is pathetic and they didn’t even bother making it interesting. What happened to the Backyardigans? Arthur? No one puts any effort in children’s shows anymore. Disgraceful.
Good old PSX days. It's probably going to suck though.
Great show, great writing, great acting and the funny things in it are really funny. Really love this show, hope they are prepping a second season because this one is awesome.
The people who don't like it...maybe they should not watch it ...in my humble opinion
I just finished watching this stand-up and it's difficult to gather my words right now. I knew her from Please like me so I clicked on her Netflix video, expecting something funny, maybe some sarcasm, some jokes about her being lesbian... I didn't expect all the truths and beautiful, angry and powerful speech that she gave.
Please watch it, it's worth your time
I'm still in two minds about the change to Quantum Leaping tech that they made, namely that they removed the hippy dippy Aura concept and went with "teleporting your mind into someone else's body" because if they used the Aura concept the plot point of "seeing Leaper X's real face " would have worked, but how is it that we're able to see his face when his mind is just inside someone's body?
The other dumb thing in this ep is they are wringing their hands over the idea of a Musk or a Zuck using a copy of the tech but they're okay with this one being a fucking U.S. military project? They don't even consider the army would build another one as a backup or even that the original project was shut down 30 years ago precisely to give the appearance of the concept being a dead-end so they could run another one in secret?
Well anyway it's not as bad as I thought it would be, the "team procedural" approach isn't bad.
"This makes my head hurt", bro WTF are you talking about!!
You're literally the director of the entire quantum time travel facility, but you somehow can't wrap your head around people leaping back from a couple of years in the future ? GTFO here with that BS.
Man, the writers better drop this dumbing shit down trope, so badly written.
It makes me feel like an unsophisticated swine but this was so incredibly boring. Took me 2 months to watch the first hour, maybe when I am old I'll be able to appreciate it.
Despite it being visually and conceptually stunning, the film turned out to be extremely slow and actionless for my taste.
Many people think that the aforementioned positive qualities outweight the negative, but personally, I think that narrative must prevail over visuals, soundtracks, effects or symbolisms.
Not only is Diane Morgan hilarious, shes also totally dreamy... even when dressed as Mandy.
Mandy might not be the most glamorous of ladies, but it doesn’t make Diane Morgan any less gorgeous. Or genius.
season 3 !! season 3 !! season 3 !! pleeeeease!!!
Is it just me or is there some circlejerk going on at Disney where they keep using the same group of actors over and over again for their different brands? Just stop using Taika Waititi already.
The movie itself is pretty whatever.
It reminded me a lot of Onward; you could do a lot worse, but it probably won’t be remembered within the broader Pixar catalogue.
Not a lot of depth or subtext with this one, it’s a pretty straight forward adventure (which is also fine of course).
Some good animation (lots of visual ideas are being pulled from Star Wars), decent voice acting, fine characters, story’s alright.
It’s kinda inoffensive and doesn’t really warrant some of the extreme reactions it’s gotten.
The whole ‘woke’ label is baffling to me, it just seems like a smokescreen certain people use to cover up for their own homophobia, which only emphasizes how the word ‘woke’ carries little to no meaning nowadays.
Any regular person will be fine watching this, regardless of their political leaning.
Ffs, it’s mass entertainment after all.
5/10
Well you know, I'm on board with those who say the orville feels more like star trek than discovery ever will be.
This was a superb episode — relevant and hilarious. The choice to use Dolly Pardon's 9 to 5 for the anthem of the female Moclans was perfect, well... at least MacFarlane didn't use Conway Twitty .
However, I do see troubled waters ahead for Bortus and Klyden. They have too many philosophical differences for a harmonious relationship; perhaps Klyden can change, Topa did.
Maybe I had high hopes for this second season, but first episode felt a little meh…
The real question is why the hell did the guy charge money for snacks at the white house?
Funny as shit. And then sad as hell when you realize it's basically just a documentary.
This truly was the perfect goodbye indeed. Great mix of humor and emotion. Loved all the callbacks and the returning characters. I will miss this bunch of wackos and their shenanigans.
Season 5 of Star Trek The Next Generation was absolute perfection. The show has seriously hit its stride by that point.
Watching this series in 1080p with DTS audio creates a whole new experience, quite different from the original broadcast and the DVD's. It's like re-discovering it in wonderful ways. After binge watching the first season, I can say the re-mastered version has subtle differences from the DVD's. The cuts are more precise, some scenes are dropped or shortened and the effects look crisp and clear. You can actually read some of the small letter text (hilarious in some cases), and make out the hull lettering in every Federation ship. Hey, I didn't even know the Enterprise had a side hull ID with the name, and a smaller lettering in the nacelles (that one is only there in the first season). If you haven't seen the Blu-ray release, you haven't seen this series at all.
Man that waitress deserved it
I gave this an extra star based on the fact that everyone in the movie is so dumb just like the people I see outside everyday.
