As a massive fan of the original movies with Diaz, Barrymore and Liu, this movie coud never stand up to that but it manages to be it's own thing almost like a younger version of the angels. At times it feels more like a live-action Totally Spies movie than a Charlie's Angels due to it's lack of self aware and campy moments, the sexiness of the original movies also gets turned down and replaced with a sense of feminism that at times just feels forced.
The three main ladies do a fair job but never get to shine as distinctive personalities, Naomi Scott is definetly the best of the group with comedic moments and out of all the characters she seems the most real.
Elizabeth Banks should probably focous more on acting and even producing because i don't think directing is for her, there is nothing speacial about this and could have easily been directed by someone with alot more experinced in action scenes and twists.
The Twist at the end was almost expected but it still had some elements of surprise which makes you a bit more enegaged with the action that is developing.
This new version of Charlie's Angels is not as fun and campy as previous ones so I don't see it having any replayability beyond the first watch, which is a diservice to the brand.
Dollitle just falls very short of the epic adeventure that it was meant to be. In this childish adaptation of the classic novel, every aspect of adventure, danger and excitment gets lost to cheap coedy, bad CGI and extremly weird and lackluster performances from Robert Downey Jr. and the cast that voices the animals.
Downey Jr. decides to half a very poor British/Scottish accent that is blantly distracting and portrays the character of Dr. Dollitle as an old crazy baffoon that just happens to be able to talk to animals and as such everything goes right for him. He ompletly forgets to showcase the genius behind the character. Harry Collett is fine but his part is mostly forgetable and unecessary. Michael Sheen plays a mediocre villain and is as undevelopted as the movie itself. All the animals have terrible personalities and they should just not talk.
The plot of this movie relays on old british tropes like the plan to assasinate the queen and using a coocky character to save her, as such it just makes the movie feel dated.
The movie also leans towards being extremly childish with the funny animals, coocky characters and fart jokes, speacially the last scene with the dragon where all sense of epicness just falls apart and becomes almost like a Family Guy sketch.
Due to the exixtence of the magic tree and the dragon the ability of Dollitle talking to animals becomes less extraordinary, causing the viewer to loss interest on the main point of the character and such the movie.
This movie had a budget of 175 million dollars and it is barely watchable as it looks cheap in both CGI and Sets, and in the end all that is left is a movie that will not be remenbered by the end of the year.
Trolls World Tour is a fun and joyful movie. While it does not compare to great animated movies like the ones produced by Disney and Pixar and even some of Dreamworks earlier titles, it is a very enjoyable movie that anyone of every age can watch and relate too without pushing any buttons.
The messages of Diversety and Equality work well within the movie and make you feel hopeful for a better world. The animation is far superior to recent kid focused animated movies like Scoob! and The Addams Family. The writers actually bothered to write a fairly good script and plot for what is basically a huge cash cow for Universal in terms of merchandise. The music at times feels a bit forced and wished they would just start using original songs instead of going JukeBox Musical style, because alot of the songs used in this movie are pure fruits of the moment this movie was made and so will probably not age well.
While this movie doesn't really relate to the first one at all, it has just a couple nods to it, it doesnt really matter because it still envolves the Trolls metology.
As an overall movie Trolls World Tour is not perfect and can come as cheesy childs entertainment but it works for what it is intended and it is a good afternoon watch by yourself or with your family.
This movie is Ghostbusters meets Superheroes but no way shape or form is a Scooby Doo and company movie.
It is a prime example of producers not knowing anything about the original material and what made it special and fun, theyjust thought that a talking dog and super heroes would appeal to kids and thats exacly what you get, a lazy writen, directed and voiced movie.
Hannah Barbera characters get trown in just because they coudnt thing of anything else to use and they are completely wasted.
There is no mystery at all and Fred, Daphne and Velma are barely in the movie and they are useless. Shaggy and Scoob only have terrible jokes and they just become unlikable and not like the lovable bafoons of the classic series.
The use of pop culture in this movie makes it feel dated and it is also a massive eye roll everytime something show up become it is not cleverly made. WHY IS SIMON COWELL IN THIS MOVIE AND WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE THEY REUSED THE ANIMATION FROM SHREK 2 FAR FAR AWAY IDOL????? Also the ending with the horrible song that comes from nowhere with all the flying discs and DJ FALCON.... please!
It is probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen because it really is an insult to what Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. is.
