Not a bad show, but I do feel like it could have been better animated. However, the more the show progresses, the better the animation gets...still not perfect. Original story too, unrelated to the games which is always nice.
First episode of season 1 has a completely different vibe from the rest of the series as it’s a prequel. So far it is a really good show and completely not what I was expecting.
Also, skipping the intro should be a crime as yoasobi’s intro song アイドル (idol) is awesome…but then again, I don’t really skip any intro that has a song by Yoasobi, Lisa or 鈴木このみ (Suzuki konomi)
I struggled to find the will to want to finish it....finally did, though it took me a couple of months to finish. Not the worse, but there are definitely better out there.
I've never watched a Gandam show before and only decided to try it out because of the intro song by Yoasobi, 祝福 (blessing, wishing someone good luck) which I really love and made me look up the anime in which it gets played (since it sounded like a song that would be perfect for anime intro and yoasobi has multiple songs in anime intro). Because of this I never really skip the intro lol
but on to the show itself... it is not horrible, but it's not great either. I personally don't love talking about politics and the relationships between multiple companies and branches etc...and that is what this anime is about at its core. I usually like to turn off my brain mostly when watching anime and don't like to have to think too much about political drama, even in a fictional show....but hey, it made me want to play mech type game :) (though every mech game I have played so far usually has politics involved so....I may just mute the story lol)
I will say the prologue episode really caught my attention and made me start season 1...especially the way it ended....sadly I can't say the rest of the show holds up in my opinion. I do like the animation though there are definitely better animated shows out there. Overall not my cup of tea, but I think I may stick around to finish season 2 since I don't like leaving shows unfinished unless I truly dislike them.
So good I can't have enough of it!
Animation 10/10
Story (so far) 10/10
Character development (so far) 10/10
Ever since learning Japanese, anime was starting to get pretty stale for me....this show basically brought my desire to watch anime back. It's that good :)
Rewatching it. It's that good.
Brings back childhood memories  this is an absolute timeless classic anyone of any age will enjoy :)
(I was just watching this show because of the nostalgia…was going to continue with Korra but wasn’t expecting a live action show to even be in the works, let alone released )
Really fun and entertaining show. The main character is so dumb it's funny.
Definitely recommend if you like Black Clover and are crying in a corner because it's paused (for now)
I came in expecting to laugh at the possible bad acting and possible failed attempt at a zombie horror...after all this is the first Korean zombie show I watch......I gotta say....so far it's not bad at all...but then again I'm a very easy person to please so I will probably watch it completely.
UPDATE: Half way through the season. Everyone in the comments complains this is not so much about survival horror as it is about high school teenage drama. To be honest, this is all because of the English title being misleading. This is obviously about highschoolers and maybe I'm enjoying it more because I knew what I was getting into from the beginning. I don't read synopsis or watch trailers about anything but since I'm watching it in Japanese, the title for this show is 今、私たちの学校は... (Now, our school is...) so I could right away tell it took place in a school and based on the image I could tell it was horror related.
does it have teenage drama? yes, most of the characters are high schoolers and tbh I would not expect them to act any differently
is it about survival horror? absolutely, any character can be well in one episode and die completely unexpectedly in the next. A lot of times it keeps me at the edge of my seat because the show is not afraid to kill anyone.
is there comedy? honestly very little. I can tell they try, but it could be because comedy doesn't really translate all that well between languages. Maybe once my Korean is up to par I 'll rewatch it and maybe then it will be funnier, but until then I have to imagine anyone watching it in English will also think there isn't much comedy.
does the acting suck? well that depends on what you consider good acting. If you're into western movies/shows and think any kind of asian movie or show is cringe, you won't like the acting. I personally feel the actors did an excellent job. At different points so far I even shed a tear or two because I felt their pain.
Bottom line is: this show is about how teenagers would survive a zombie apocalypse....drama and all
I am honestly very happy and even though I haven't finished season 1 yet I can't wait for season 2 to come out already
EDIT AFTER FINISHING SEASON: The more I watched it the more I thought this would make a really fun video game to play...Really enjoyed it and can't wait for next season :)
I like how colorful this show is. One of those shows to watch if you're feeling blue
Typical male protagonist all girls are crazy about, usually knows better and is 10 steps ahead of everyone else around him. My kind of anime
Never thought I'd like this show as much as I do
