The writing is shit, the acting is shit, plot is kinda intriguing but turns to shit.
Why do we need another suicide squad movie?
Too much social commentary, not enough horror (or suspense). Easily the least impressive Peele production.
This series is so mindblowingly great
I long for the days where cgi was only used when it was really needed. Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh
What a disappointing end to the Halloween reboot trilogy. Halloween Kills was so unbelievably good that I was excited to see what's next, it turns out that this film is vastly different. I'm aware that the filmmakers wanted to try different approach with this final entry but I wasn't expecting this messy. It's more of a drama, villain origin story, dark romance with some slashing. Definitely not an easy task to pull this off, but you can clearly see the struggle. The focus shifts on this new kid's descent into darkness which largely feels underdeveloped and hollow, with some super corny romance thrown in, cornier than people chanting 'evil dies tonight'. I find it super weird and get so frustrated because of how the kid got the main focus when this film is supposed to finish Laurie and Michael story which started a long time ago. Also, the romance part feels forced, downright cringy and unnecessary. Like seriously, who thought that it was a good idea?! The slashing is brutal and fun, at least, although you won't see the incredibly menacing Michael Myers like in the previous film. It honestly makes me appreciate Halloween Kills more since that one is the most 'slasher' out of 3.
This was such a great show, it is one of my favorites from Comedy Central. Can't think of any shows coming out these days on this level of comedy.
What even the fuck was that last scene about lmao. Why that woman alone? Was she dead or not? Why was it bright outside? One of the worst movies I've ever fucking seen.
If you don't like this movie, wait for next parts. They will be released in the following order:
Father iOS
Brother Linux
Sister Windows
Grandpa Cobol
Uncle DoS
Nephew Basic
Pet Python
Ruby on Rails
Aunt Symbian
Niece Unraid
Brother Java
Cool concept but terrible, terrible writing.
None of the characters behaves in a believable way, it all feels staged (you know those lines that just happen in movies but just don't feel right in real life? Like "there's no time to explain, just follow me" or "we've got company"), even at the beginning at the resort, before the supernatural part kicks in, like a series of scenes almost unrelated one to the other and patched together, each with the precise purpose to stimulate a feeling in the audience or to get the plot ahead. Characters falling as flies like in predictable horror movies.
Some unexplicable sloppy screenplay moments:
The ending was the best and more naturally progressing part of the movie
The tone of this movie is all over the place; it is an absurdist collage of genres that never capitalises on any single one to great effect. It's both fantastically shot while being absolute drivel, it's a complete whiplash in quality from one facet to the next. Not once was I sure what type of response this movie was trying to illicit from me. Was I supposed to laugh at the absurdity of it all? Enjoy the annoyingly well shot action sequences? Be scared by the slow building horror scenes? Chuckling from the poor acting and terrible script work?
Either James was shooting to make The Room of horror movies as his return to the genre, or something here went horribly wrong. Or it'll become a cult classic because of how stupid it is. What a wild ride, and sadly not one I can say I enjoyed. The Saw references were a nice touch though.
Not as good as the first one but still enjoyable. Pennywise still is super creepy and Bill Skarsgård plays him perfectly. Bill Hader steals the show, everyone else is fine. This felt a little too long and clunky. There was some cool back and forth between the adults and kids but it kinda got old after a while. It could of done with a tighter story.
Imagine a time travel movie where nothing happens.
Now you don't need to watch this. You're welcome.
Just all bangers. Each skit got at least one big laugh or gasp, and the ending had no right to be so hard hitting.
I was waiting for the robot to say "number 5 is alive"
The movie wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. It was way too long at 2 hrs 11 minutes and really should have been 45 minutes shorter. There were lots of useless scenes meant to add drama, but only added to the cringe level. The acting wasn't bad for what the movie is... I think it's worth the watch if nothing else is around
Just another flick about your neighborhood Karen - 5/10, would not watch again.
As bad as me with a toolbox and electronics, this robot movie isn't very inventive.
Wes Craven did it first and worst with Deadly Friend in back in 86, but this iteration of killer-doll horror has all the imagination of a Raggedy Ann. It feels like it was made only for the marketing campaign, even if the team certainly struggled to find 3 minutes of trailer-worthy footage.
Assuming that this is intentionally meant to be camp is doing it a service it doesn’t deserve, I think.
Yes, there’s goofy and trashy stuff in it, but they play it mostly straight with the presentation, i.e. most of this feels like it’s trying to be an actual movie. It’s not as over the top and entertaining as it needed to be, like it’s certainly no Malignant or Drag me to Hell.
Instead, it’s one of the dullest experiences I’ve had in a long time.
All of the actors are instant razzie frontrunners (especially Allison Williams, holy shit what a trainwreck of a performance) and the writing constantly veers between human dialogue as interpreted by aliens (or M Night Shyamalan), and unintentionally (yes, unintentionally) funny garbage. I know it’s unintentional, because the intentional jokes that are worked into the script aren’t funny at all.
The story is of course laughable and completely predictable. So many unnecessary, boring scenes, as well as quick bits that are clearly aimed to just be memes on TikTok. Even the crazy stuff felt fairly restrained to me, it’s not nearly bonkers enough to become entertaining. For example, don’t go into this expecting more of the dance sequence, because all of the best bits are in the trailer.
Finally, the filmmaking and visual style are instantly forgettable. Not a single interesting shot or artistic choice in the whole thing.
In short, nothing fun or clever about it, just very typical January horror kitsch that was probably only greenlit as a tax write-off for Jason Blum.
1.5/10
Decent enough to pass the time. Kinda nice message in the end. Few laughs, especially if you're into Quebec humour.
Its amazing how bad a show can be with good actors.
The sad part is, that this could have been good if they had just tuned down the slapstick about 80%.
You know those shows within shows that are supposed to be a joke and really absurd? Like the stuff playing in the background of Rick and Morty with improv'd lines, or something in Family Guy? This show is what happens when you turn that into a full live-action TV series. It's okay for a few laughs if you're watching it with others.
Do you remember The naked gun movies? Spy hard? Hot shots? How about Men in tights, or Spaceballs? Monty Python's Life of Brian? All of them are absurd humor comedies, a genre that encompasses many of the most hilarious movies / books / shows, including some occasional masterpieces, such as some of the Discworld books, or the unsurpassable The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the books - the movie was ok, but nowhere near Douglas Adams' brilliance).
Anyway... With Medical police, they went down the same path of absurd humor. Yay! But sadly, they only achieved the absurd part. The humor, not so much. They tried, but it didn't work, at least for me. Most episodes don't have more than a couple of laughs in them; some (such as the pilot), not even that.
It's still worth a watch... if you don't have anything else to do. The first season is only 4 hours long, and the episodes are short enough too. At least they got that right!
I found out afterwards that this is a spin-off of another show called Childrens Hospital, with all the same cast. I didn't watch it, but according to IMDb, it was much better and lasted for 7 seasons. I doubt there will be a second one of Medical police, though. The idea isn't bad, and the cast is pretty good, but they lack the most important thing you can ask of a comedy show: to be funny.
Self-indulgent? Absolutely. Disturbing? Partly. Hilarious? Definitely
Ostensibly a psychological horror/serial killer film, in reality the latest from professional provocateur Lars von Trier is more a dark comedy about the nature of art, capped off with a quite literal descent into Hell. As much an interrogation of his own dark psychology as an "up yours" to his detractors and the oft-levelled accusations of misogyny and nihilism, von Trier all but dares you to be offended, whether by the violence done to a duckling, the cold-blooded murder of children, the verbal degradation of a woman, the critique of the :pound_symbol:MeToo movement, the celebration of Albert Speer, or the mockery of American gun culture. Partially self-reflexive in nature, the film suggests a parallel between murder and artistic creation, with von Trier offering more of an apologia than an apology for his oeuvre. When he's really on his game - Breaking the Waves (1996), Dancer in the Dark (2000), Dogville (2003), Antichrist (2009), Melancholia (2011) - von Trier is capable of depicting horrific violence alongside psychologically complex characters and scenes of devastating emotional veracity. House, which is far too long and tends towards self-indulgence, doesn't come anywhere near those heights, and is thus more open to accusations of empty provocation, but von Trier has definitely tapped into 'something' here, and, love it or hate it, you will react to it.

For the amount of moments that the main characters are just reciting exposition at each other you're better off reading the script. That at least will save you from watching this obvious cash-in on the 'success' of RIPD. Only the lore (roughly) stays the same between this and the old movie. Other important elements, like humor and a flowing plotline, have been lost. There is no reason I could find to watch this movie. Highly skippable.
A mix between babadook and it follows, horrific, makes you doubt everything. I liked it ! The shots were pretty cool too
A complete snorefest and a disgrace to the V/H/S series. I only gave it one extra point for the coffin story, but even then, it's only for the first half. Otherwise, it's a disappointment through and through.
Definitely, the worst in the series. There was no need to make this too many years later.
Not the best film but a really nice ending to a series Kevin smith clearly cared a lot about. Stay for the credits to listen to him talk a little about the film, it was very wholesome.
Kevin Smith has got the gang back together for Clerks 3, but unfortunately it’s current era Kevin Smith that has seemingly forgotten how to make comedy. There are some glimmers here and there but Smith not only undercuts his own humor with bizarre wackiness but he does the same with his serious dramatic moments. The moments that feel special are when we step back into some of the scenes from the original with the original players, but that might be a testament to how good the original Clerks is and a sad reminder of how far things have fallen.
