Good indie comedy that had some great lines and dark humor. If you want some laughts to the end of the world pick this one instead of the unfunny "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World".
5 minutes into the pilot episode and i'm hooked and covered in goosebumps, Jamie Alexander is freakin awesome
I get it, it has to be funny because of the transitions and randomness, but I don’t find this nonsense entertaining.
Unfortunately Tagomi being missing from this last season, and Joe Blake, really left a void too large for it to have any real heart. So it had to wind down with the Smith/Crain arcs. It closed the narratives already established and provided us with a Hollywood ending. It was beautifully crafted, and well acted. All in all a competent finale. The last episode was untidy however as it seems hard to envision a propagandised society willing to tolerate a change its actions, and the mysterious emerging from the portal had no motivating cause other than as a possible replacement of those lost to the wars, repression and Work/Death Camps. What has been missing from the entire season is an exposition of the abilities of Julianna Crain and Togomi. More could have been done to unpack this gift and render it teachable to students but this would have extended the scope of the series and the places to which these people could go in wider multiverse, when the cast and crew likely wanted to move on from this. I don't blame them for this. It is quite a dark thing to bring to life, and indeed it was done so well in scene setting and ambience. For that the whole series is to be praised. I would be unlikely, due to the ending, to want to buy this or watch again. If anyone wants to watch this and enjoy the experience thoroughly I'd stop at the end of season three. Perfect ending there.
The best thing about this whole series is that it shows that people, via the mulitverse setup, can be seen in various modes of behaviour and orientation. How easy a decision to do one thing sets of a chain of decisions after them so that people can be lovable in one world, and monsters in the next. Everyday ordinary people have such power at their fingertips, and can be swayed by a change in events to become the most odious people, and willing servants of a mindless machine, unable to see a way out.
Not a movie for everyone.
If you want lasers, explosions and monsters in your sci-fi this is not for you.
If you want creepy atmosphere, dialogs and good acting it's a perfect fit.
The movie is not perfect still.
The premise of a local radio getting strange reports from callers around the town is reduced very quickly to only two main calls.
I would have preferred to listen to more callers and have the tension and realization of what was happening building up a little slower than it was.
Also the black and white TV show thing didn't resonate well with me. If they limited that to the introduction it would have been better.
Still a solid 7 for me.
