Not as terrible in execution as Arkangel but I couldn't help but burst out laughing in one of the key moments due to the stupidity of this where it should have been a moment of tension instead. I mean that this show is an anthology is a good thing but this was on par of British no-budget genre film... if you want me to invest in your setting at least bother to make things to have at least a little bit of sense. Turning it black & white is not enough.
- The dogs technical functions seemed to jump around all the time... This is sort of endless. / Can magically generate and store power forever apparently (since it can still charge from within the factory)... still goes on standby. / Instead of killing the target point blank it prefers to instill a tracking device before it kills the person. / It just hides in the factory.. because robots. / Abandons factory straight away and goes for the target not instilled with a tracking device. / Can at first only track people via tracking device (still kills the other guy and can drive a car just fine however), later on it can still employ a sort-off wallhack (it did the tracking by an endless stream of blood left behind LOL)... however once it was in the house it could not see behind the furniture she was located at. / Can apparently only kill with a weapon(knife here) after it lost it's weapon - scary. / They suddenly swarm the area so they can supposedly communicate with each other, but that isn't really seen in their behavior regardless.
- The reason for getting a teddy this far out can't be made up. If this really was a dangerous world people would have helped themselves differently (and not by leaving the dying kid there). This wasn't just something that happened a few days ago anyways.
- We are supposed to believe this is a world that exist. So obviously she first runs away when the first guy gets attacked, only to stand still to have him tell to run away again on which she still does this as she wouldn't have cared either way.
- These things get rekt by energy drain, paintjobs, trees and are only good in close range. Now this will wipe humanity out for certain...
What a waste of time. This is one of many episodes in the show where the gadget is mainly a plot device and gets very little afterthought but unlike others there is no new idea at play here to make it passable. This is just an underdeveloped clichéd drama.
Those CG sheep... like they wanted to make another dent in before it ends -.-...
This is the kind of post-apocalyptic slife-of-life you will only ever get in anime format. Despite looking like it would be focused on war-themes it just sets the backdrop as it is more concerned with exploring the mysterious world they live in. While there are plenty of elements I despised it was still an enjoyable ride set to a great OST. It's closer to the original Kino's Journey than the remake this season...
Penned by NisiOisiN this is mostly a boring tournament show in the vein of Fate... just a bit more edgy (looking at you necromancer bunny). You shouldn't bother with this unless are shooting to see every action show ever. The format is repetitive (queue backstory, then fight!), the production is far from sleek and there isn't much to latch onto given the format otherwise.

I'm glad I stopped visiting the site :)...
Quite the odd one out. Should have had less montage scenes tbh. but a good breather episode. Certainly the best of the three Garo anime shows so far... too bad the first one burned some potential viewers ;)...
Also the 'Bara' pandering is strong with this one...
If anime taught me anything then it's that it can make even the most apparent (subjective) boring things work. Unfortunately a lot of this was just not very exciting, part because of it's generic framework and imho muddled character interactions but also because of Production I.G not bringing their A-game.
Before watching this I actually thought this was supposed to be a documentary. Danielle Macdonald is great in this and helps to carry the movie but whatever "outsider" angle this was supposed to have (including the Death Grips meme) gets lost in a cliché storyline that is a tad too "Disney".
Definitely better than the first season thanks to a lot more gore/slashing but still clunky. It's still a "secrets" fiesta and the setup (snowed in) includes permanent horror stupidity in TV show length. The twist was to be expected since it was framed like that very early on and Leslie Hope is the only known actress on here... meh!
While in concept the short is quite simple it features some nice colorful animation with a good flow. Apparently online on the 14th too :)!
What fanservice elements make up in female centered idol shows is here replaced by "we have jobs and hobbies because dudes". It's all a bit mundane for my tastes so I'll leave it at three episodes ;)... not that I should have started this show in the first place.
I only glanced over the first OVA but will have to revisit it certainly. Really digging the tone of this so far. The 'flight' was a bit lackluster in terms of visuals however. First I figured they were going for a do-not-show but they didn't really keep at it.
Good job. Funny to see what terrible movies can still spawn franchises :)).
So much hate for the creativity :(. Drugs have been part of the show since forever.. at least there are certain consequences for once and they're not just lines in a script.
This was worse than anticipated...
Pretty much your standard light novel adaptation with all of it's flaws.. the biggest one being that this isn't optimized at all for a 12 episode show and mostly wanders on fillter-tier content without proper resolution. I probably would have dropped this if I wasn't hoping for a certain character to become more active in the story.
While I didn't hate the show it has a weird tone as if your parents were trying to be edgy & cool but are still settling for family friendly goofs... The episodic nature keeps things somewhat interesting as it's the local residents whose interactions end up being especially cringeworthy.
Certainly cut short at this point. This was extremely anticlimactic.
Not really the most exciting gambling show as the games sort of happen without the viewer feeling much of an investment or really having much to guess about but damn are the facial expressions gold (very similar to Prison School).
I enjoyed the author's previous anime adaptation "The Comic Artist and His Assistants" and Aho-Girl is quite similar. While again not all jokes are always working; she's just so loud and void of common sense I can't help but feel entertained.
A cute show where it's easy to tune in.
This "documentary" is a co-product of the filmmakers radio show called "VHS Massacre". In that regard the title is a bit misleading. While it has some semi-interesting interviews here it really doesn't offer much insight. It's structured very poorly and is quite amateurish at times (bad mic, wrong facts, segments with no relevancy, stats with seemingly no real basis). There is also some meta advertisement going on for their other films (even a trailer is shown). If you want to watch a doc about VHS go check out "Rewind This!".
That was disappointing. The movie has an oldschool lo-fi aesthetic but isn't providing the necessary punches one would hope. Kinda hard to build an atmosphere when the acting and FX are poor. While retaining some of the sinister gore of the series it's usually "created" offscreen. Story elements were frequently changed and hurt the mystery aspect. Better stick to the anime OVAs which do more in less time...
IDK... The first half was just tedious up until the predictable outcome from where it had some good acting and ideas on display but all that in an unbelievable context coupled with mood whiplash due to the restricted runtime.
This was bad! A total snooze fest with terrible acting and a shitty story that lacks any logic. If this didn't actually have Japanese producers behind I would even call it offensive... As pointed out in my previous comment on here: Barrett based his screenplay on a story of J.T. Petty but never got the full payment (back then) nor heard anything about it's further development. The credits now show three of the producers with the "Story by" and also Eiji Otsuka as an adviser who apparently was also supposed to write a book with a chapter about this Temple which then would then get adapted by Toei Animation. J.T. Petty is a "special thanks" btw.. Not really surprised this turned out as it did.
You can really feel the passion behind this... not.
I was well aware that this "Death Note" was going to be a liberal adaptation of the source material but by the midpoint my patience ran out: whhhhhyyyy u do dis? This is coming from someone who associated the name "Adam Wingard" with good movies (up until Blair Witch anyways) and is not only here because of the anime avatar... He pretty much added insult to the injury by adding misguided gore effects, neon-lightning and picking the wrong songs to cue.
According to interviews the IP has been passed around in the industry for a while and has been rewritten a bunch during this (and it shows). So who exactly at Netflix figured this would reach a broader audience than the anime already did when they're replacing the core dynamics and traits that made it popular outside it's medium in the first place? Really disappointed with this... it's just a half backed adaptation restrained by it's need to keep the characters while going for a direction that doesn't really lend to them (the note could have fallen into the hands of ANYONE, no need to butcher). 90 minutes is also way to short as the flow is terrible.
Some really fancy set design and horrific murders to see here but I would be lying if I said I wasn't bored at times. It's also hard to be surprised by the outcome when the story is framed as it is.
Some men love trees huh?
