I thought this was a great example of how things will eventually catch up to you if you do enough bad things... I mean... Rick did a lot of bad things guys, this makes sense. It's also nice to see Rick get out of selfish mode and think about his family. Good finale. Great season. Went way too fast, I'll miss it.
what an amazing ending to the season.. Please bring season 3 ASAP Adult Swim!
Oh man, that scalated quickly.
How I hated that cliffhanger and how they even made it worse with the epilogue. Wow, just wow.
Dang , this was seriously awesome and much better compared to S1 !
Gonna start S3 soon , as it's not a cliffhanger for me. ( perks of time )
:( RIP Birdman, you'll always live on in my heart.
Another really good episode. I love the wedding stuff and having the house party guys show up again was super cool to see, really helps flesh out the world a bit better. The Tammy twist was also pulled off really well, with Bird Person's death being legitimately pretty sad. All that stuff would make this a good episode already, but the second half really helps elevate it. All the searching for planets bits are super funny, and the ending is another one of the show's few actually emotional moments, even if it is sort of undermined by the Season 3 premier.
I liked this episode well enough, but wasn't blown away. It was nice that they finally explored a little more of the Rick/Beth relationship, even if it was only by proxy, but I wish they had gone a little further with it. The little planet lent itself to lots of great gags, and it's always pleasant to have some BSG alumni around. But the ending didn't have the emotional punch it was meant to for me. Maybe it's just that the song "Hurt" feels a little overused, so I see the strings in terms of provoking an emotional reaction more than I do in an episode like "Rick Potion No. 9". Maybe it's that the episode had the characters say things that were already palpable as subtext that didn't necessarily gain anything by being said out loud.
That all sounds way more negative about the episode than I mean to be. The squanch language gags were lots of fun, the fight with the federation was imaginatively directed and animated, if a bit predictable given Bird Person's setup for it, and digging into Rick's frustrations with his failed marriage and opening up was a worthy premise. The pacing seemed a little off, but maybe that will be rectified in the episode that picks up the cliffhanger. Still a solid cap to a superb season.
That close up to the huge testicals, hilarious.
I love how the over the top satire squanches censorship on a regular basis.
Squanch that cliffhanger, though. So mean.
S2 was a clear improvement to S1.
Did anyone else find the ending depressing?
a cliffhanger season finale; it reminds me of a scene from Wreck It Ralph, Men In Black, and The Matrix
I wonder how Rick and the Smith family will get out of this situation.
Season 3 is out in 2017
