I thought the villain was one of the major highlights of this film. Updated somewhat for 2019 and backstory altered to fit into the fabric of the MCU but overall executed well on the big screen and motivations keeping in the spirit of the comic counterpart.

Not as good as Homecoming and that is entirely due to villain. I wasn't sure I thought this was the right villain for this version of Spidey to begin with, but really...it just didn't work at all. The rest of the movie buoyed that soggy corner, though, and made for a worthwhile ride. The merciful 2 hour runtime was filled with action and funny moments...it just doesn't stand up well against the first film. 7/10
