I’m not saying what Betty did was right but I understand why she did it.
Dan Broderick was really, really gaslighting her. Her whole identity was being a wife and mother. She built him up and he completely destroyed her, and when there was nothing left, he traded her in for a younger version of herself. Betty was right with her feelings and his refusal to acknowledge that drove her insane. Dan should have been honest with her, instead he made her feel crazy and unimportant. So condescending and cruel.
