The first episode is lightweight entertainment, maybe with the exception of the attack on Nimue's village, which is quite brutal. Scenes with Nimue, Pym and Arthur are funny, and Merlin is an intriguing character, introducing dark and mysterious undertones to the show. The problem is that it is hard to form any emotional connection with the characters, especially the main protagonist Nimue seems sort of flat, it is hard to care what happens to her. I hope that Pym is alive because she is much more likeable than Nimue.
