A very good episode about violent tendencies and, in parts, about the death penalty. Althought that is only touch briefly. We hear arguments but there is no discussion. It´s 100 % about the characters here. Brad Dourif gives a great performance, as does Tim Russ who, for a brief time at least, can show the other side of Vulcan nature. Which is really great to watch because in the first half he´s his annoying self, trapped in his logic with the need to understand the motive behind a murder. If only the holodeck scene would have been real ;-) The little b-plot with Tom´s gambling operation (that`s a bit of an overstatement, if you´d ask me, to call it that) was rather boring. They try to bring back the fact that Paris is a bad boy. But it never really worked and in any case he´s already grown past that.
