I don't really like how many TV shows overdo damage to ships. The USS Discovery crash at the beginning was way over the top (and not for the first time in this show). IMO if there are sparks at the inside of the control rum, if the hull integrity is too low, and if the computers are damaged/offline you're simply out of luck - even with Sci-Fi technology. Also the intense camera shaking can really get annoying.
IMO they should just do some crazy and close evasive maneuvers and maybe hit / crash into some objects (asteroids) with the shields (i.e. no hull damage). That might even create more suspense. I found the way they're damaging the ship so ridiculous that it just wasn't really exciting to watch and of course we already know that they'll survive.
Anyway, I was expecting / hoped to see Michael at the end but I certainly didn't expect that haircut :D Also: It seemed like Saru considered not answering the hail and maybe even attacking? That wouldn't make much sense as they basically have no choice (their technology would be way too outdated for a fight).
