FIRST THOUGHTS: I’ve loved so much of this series, but this is the first season that really felt as if the writers weren’t fully in control of the narrative. Even though it has a larger scope and bigger set pieces, the character arcs and storylines feel a bit more haphazard and scattered. The season finale is fantastic and does bring things together in a much more satisfying manner than it appeared to be heading, but it doesn’t make up for the seasons scattershot approach. It’s still gorgeously shot and the performances continue to be delightful - and it was nice to see the show begins to explore racism.
