Sherlock

Season 1

Sherlock Holmes adaptation set in modern times. Even though advanced technology is available, the case dynamics play out as the most classic Conan Doyle mystery. I have kept avoiding this show due to its fame as a bromance sensation for fanfiction lovers, but I have to say that it's hands down the best adaptation we have got so far. Good cinematography, solid writing, and great work on the characters. They really nailed Sherlock's characterization as an oddball psychopath as well as his weird relationship with Watson. The fanservice is there, but it's mostly used as a vehicle for humor more than anything else.

The first episode has the weakest case but worked on the characters the best. I also liked how text pops up to guide us during Sherlock's investigations without slowing things down with more talking. I wish they used that more on the other two episodes as well.

The third episode is the most eventful, but M's acting was so atrocious that it managed to kill my expectations for Season 2.
