The movie was pretty good but the songs were extremely "blah" - didn't really say anything. It's a fun and cute watch but not really more than that, every character seems flat and things just happened... Very detached from reality and each other. Quevenzhane outshined both Diaz and Byrne who did a terrible acting job imo. Since the film was so shallow, I feel like they could have played a bit more on the comedy elements, especially with the dramatic/'tragic' elements falling so flat.
