What Paul did on Wisteria Lane this season was really radical. But I can’t help but feel sorry for this whole situation. I think the frustration he takes out on Susan, refusing to help her, lets Beth go. He was very hard on his words when he said that Susan never paid attention to Beth, but it was really his own regret for the things he had done to her recently. He threw her out and, on the morning of that day that she shot herself, he still confirmed that he had killed Martha. Paul is aware now that Beth was the only innocent person in the war he waged with Felicia and that she was used by both parties - only more precisely by the mother, who shaped her daughter’s life in every way, and decided to include her in her plans for revenge, making her marry a condemned man.

When he finally accepts that he’s made mistakes and that Beth is gone, he allows him to experience grief and lets that more human side shine through, as in that touching conversation he had with Susan when he informed her that he’s going to allow the donation. I don’t think it’s part of any plan, I think he was really sincere, he opened up and exposed his feelings. Paul has done bad things throughout the series and this season, but he’s not exactly a bad person. He is bitter, spiteful. But very human. I thought it was really nice of Susan comforting him with that hug. After all, as I pointed out earlier, in addition to losing Beth, there’s still this unfortunate coincidence that both of his marriages ended with his wife shooting herself in the head. I can’t imagine how heavy that must be.

On the other hand, Felicia did a little show in front of Paul, proposing forgiveness, that they stop plotting against each other. It was very clear that with this humanitarian freedom she got, she’s going to start pulling strings to make Paul pay for everything. She must hold him personally responsible for Beth’s suicide as well. So it’s double revenge. We’ll see... The final stretch of this arc promises a lot now.

Renee’s reaction to Beth’s death was very strange and insensitive. Even if she didn’t like the neighbor, it’s still a life, and a troubled person who was suffering so much, feeling so disillusioned, that the only way she found to solve her problem and still be useful in some way was the most extreme possible. But then she exposed that she experienced it up close with her mother and everything became clearer. She represses her feelings, she’s hiding these emotions about what her mother did a long time ago and she has a lot of hurt too. She needs someone to vent to, it’s not good to keep swallowing those feelings. I hope she does that with Gaby at least. On top of that, I thought it was hilarious that she compared this party to the Oscars, and inviting Wisteria Lane workers to look super cool and important.

Again, I’m in the balance regarding the plot of Tom and Lynette, because I find both sides understandable and with good arguments. There’s nothing wrong with being loyal, folks. Carlos gave Lynette an opportunity with that job, Tom took her place, there was a whole mess later about the lie about the pregnancy that resulted in several conflicts, but in the end everything was fixed and their friendship prevailed. Tom knows that he is important in the company and that they are going through a delicate period, and being a friend of Carlos, this weighs even more. However, everything Lynette said was also logical: not only is he a 46-year-old man still trying to establish himself professionally, but also because some opportunities we can’t just throw away. Not to mention that, yes, Carlos wouldn’t think twice if he were him, because he is ambitious and has the encouragement of an even more ambitious and money-hungry person, which is Gaby. So... Lynette may have even played dirty putting that car on Carlos’ door to encourage Tom, but it worked because he liked to drive, he was tempted! I just hope the friendship of the two families doesn’t become strained.

Andrew has more in common with Bree than he realizes. Of course he would be frustrated at the meeting scene, he went there thinking it was something else and was tricked, and on top of that he was in total denial about drinking. I was very touched by the exchange of looks between mother and son after those very direct accusations he made. And even more so, when Andrew exposed how lost he is, without a job, without a future, in their conversation. Bree deciding she needed to make a difference and returning home to provide more support… I love her. Andrew exposing that Alex has already ended their marriage and left. Gosh! But she is with him now, I hope he can recover and get back on his feet. I like Andrew so much, I really admire his development and the change in character he has gone through since season 2. I wish he would show up more often.
