@whos_ur_buddha not sure if that's what's going on here. The concepts of heterosexuality vs. homosexuality were not the way Romans of that era categorized sexual preferences. See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_in_ancient_Rome Let's not even start with what Greeks considered to be appropriate. Seehttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_in_ancient_Greece
All this maybe disturbing for some conservative viewers but it's actually quite interesting that this is depicted for what it was: totally accepted and widespread behavior that needed no further explanation or needed to be kept a secret. Of course we know very little of the Germanic attitude towards homosexuality. Thus Marbod was perhaps acting different outside the Roman camp. Of course you have a point when criticizing the overall extent of saucy scenes in this show. Often, nudity and sex doesn't serve any other issue than adding some eye-candy.
PS: likewise, the black girl was perhaps not only a concession to woke Netflix producers. Too often we forget how motley the Roman society was and how much the classical world was shaped by migration.

Really. They had to throw a gay scene in there. Wtf that’s is so random & out of place. I guess they needed to check off the gay box.
