Based on true events, The Mothman Prophecies is an atmospheric supernatural thriller. The story follows a reporter who gets lost and ends up in a small-town whose residents are being plagued by visions of an entity known as the Mothman, who brings dire predictions of death and disaster. Starring Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Debra Messing, and Will Patton, the film has a pretty good cast. And director Mark Pellington does an effecting job at setting an eerie and foreboding tone. However, the plot kind of drags a bit and it’s a little too ambiguous about what the Mothman is. Yet despite its problems, The Mothman Prophecies is a chilling fill that’s full of suspense.
