Even though I still like "Temple of Doom" overall, it is the weakest part of the original Indiana Jones trilogy for me. The film gets off to a great start with a musical number and an extended action sequence. As it progressed, however, Kate Capshaw's Willie got on my nerves. She's just too shrill, even if she does provide one or two good laughs. The interplay between Harrison Ford and Ke Huy Quan, on the other hand, I really liked. Altogether, this second Indiana Jones film is a nice adventure story with good action, effective villains, and strong character moments. However, some elements are a bit racist from today's perspective, and the romantic subplot doesn't work that well either. Therefore, there are a few deductions in the rating from me.
